Tom Brokaw, former anchor of NBC Nightly News, had a busy midterm election night as he appeared on both NBC and PBSs midterm coverage programming. During Brokaws appearances on the two networks, the former Nightly News anchor repeatedly minimized the significance of the GOPs electoral victory. During his appearance on the PBS program Charlie Rose, Brokaw disgustingly claimed that talk radio hosts insist Obama's voters are people who live in excrement. That was his phrase. And they expect us to lift them out of excrement.
The former NBC anchor began his rant by complaining that Obama gets hammered 24/7 by Fox News on the right and by talk radio which is a huge voice in this country before bizarrely trashing talk radio:
I was in the Midwest the other day listening to talk radio, I dont know who the guy was, but he's saying Obama's voters are people who live in excrement. That was his phrase. And they expect us to lift them out of excrement. I'm not going to lift a hand. That was the kind of language that was going on. At some point that penetrates.

Saw a clip of him last night asking what the Repubs will do to compromise with the dims. Dude come back to reality, IT’S O.V.E.R!
Yesterday the old white Republican voters who will die someday beat the Obama voters who live in excrement.
Yep, as we all know the time of a non-partisan media is sadly a thing of the past.
Projection and cognitive dissonance on parade now.
Hey Tom! Fly off to Sun Valley while you tell us about being a man of the people.
We don’t think they live in it Tom, we think they are FULL of it.
I think talk radio says Obama voters are unhappy enough to THINK they live in excrement. Their never happy, everything around them is bad because of their outlook on life.
Tom Brokaw is a sad excuse for a former news anchor. The whole NBC news brand is crap.
he’s a kook, so is charlie.
Okay. So let’s assume that what little Tommy thinks he heard is what was actually said by a Midwestern radio host.
a) It’s the same thing the 4 black guys in Chicago said on YouTube, so it’s not really a novel sentiment, is it?

b) Why is it an inaccurate statement? It appears to be the emerging consensus amongst a broad demographic of Americans (eg— see “a)”, above). It may be the one thing Americans agree on.
"I'm not going to sit on the porch of the old anchorman's home with a drool cup."
Tom Brokaw
Nope, he's gonna drool on camera.
I’m not a talk show host but it does sound like something I would say metaphorically of course.
I would say it metaphorically, but that doesn’t mean that’s the way I am thinking it.
Drive through inner-city Detroit and tell me that I’m wrong, Tom.
I don’t know how these people survive for years on the tube. Whenever I see them, snobby, unattractive, elitism oozes from every pore. I think, my God, what a miserably condescending snot. I can never watch Brokow for more than a few seconds. I don’t think the higher ups at NBC understand how horribly insulting he is to anyone with a brain on the right who understands manners and isn’t five years old.
The liberal airwaves are full of them. You can really see them in the liberal news media. Now I expect them in MSNBC - the viewers like them - and in liberal politians - how anyone can like Nostrils Waxman or Barney Frank or the always charming and crazy Grayson - but in regular tv?
How does Brokow survive? He’s just obnoxious! Looks down his nose at half the population all the time. Matt Lauer also. Geraldo Rivera. Simply Unlikable. I can’t understand how people get these gigs. It would be different if they were brilliant minds or such, but these are supposedly people HIRED for their likeability!
No they just watch it on NBC.
It would be different if they were brilliant minds or such, but these are supposedly people HIRED for their likeability!
______________
These people are not hired for likability but to get their point across to their target audience which is, frankly, not you.
