It's Official (He's Running) Dr. Ben Carson Just Made a Major Announcement

Dr. Ben Carson, the famous neurosurgeon and conservative super star, has made a major announcement: HE IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT!

Officially, Carson – who just became a Republican after spending years as an Independent – is ready to challenge the policies of President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. And it all begins with a 40-minute long television special he is sponsoring to introduce himself:

The documentary titled “A Breath of Fresh Air: A New Prescription for America” will air in 22 states and Washington, DC. The paid video will detail some of his biography and family life, including his rise from being born to a single mother with a poor childhood in Detroit to director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins for almost 40 years, known for his work separating conjoined twins, to potential 2016 presidential candidate.

Carson first became a conservative star when last year he created a buzz at the National Prayer Breakfast when in front of an audience that included President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden spoke out about political correctness, health care and taxes.

He also called for a private health care savings plan and a flat tax in a speech that went viral and led to an editorial in the Wall Street Journal titled Ben Carson for President. He is known as a fierce opponent of the president’s health care law known as Obamacare.

“Personally I think he should start with running for the Senate first.”

That’s the usual way to do things and that would have been better. That way he would have shown everyone that he’s serious before we are supposed to take him seriously based on some speeches.

I guess it’s not unprecedented though. Ross Perot never held public office but he got a lot of votes. And that was without the support of a major party, if I remember right.

I’m sorry he’s running, too. He’s got too many conservatives fooled. If we have to have vanity (book selling and cable program seeking) candidates run—please let it be those who would syphon off and split the “moderate” vote instead.

Another ego driven amateur. How about running for city council or something real but I guess that does get one on Fox News.

He recently (May) did an interview where he was asked where he stood on the 2nd Amendment and he explained it very well.

Ben Carson on the 2nd Amendment

Short excerpt:

The caller said, “I’ve heard some conflicting things from people and I’m curious what your thoughts are on the Second Amendment and what this administration is doing to gut it, right now?”

Dr. Carson said, “Well, it’s always good to hear it from the horse’s mouth. First of all, I am a very strong believer in the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment is there for a very good reason, and I think our Founding Fathers were very wise to recognize that the populace could be a tremendous aid to the military. They could form their own militia; they would be a tremendous deterrent for invasion.”

“But the real reason that they put it there is recognizing that there could come a time when our government itself could go off the rail, and could try to dominate the people, and the people would need a mechanism of defense for themselves,” he said. “I would never allow the Second Amendment to be jeopardized.”

“I do believe that it is necessary for people to begin to have rational discussions about things – what kinds of weapons,” said Carson. “You know, I don’t think tanks, for instance, would be a very good thing to be keeping in your garage. But you certainly should have access to any kind of weapon that you want for recreational purposes or to protect yourself. There really shouldn’t be a lot of restrictions on that.”

I love listening to him when he speaks, but it takes more than good ideas to run the world’s biggest bureaucracy. Let him run for Congress or the Senate, get some experience and then think about something else.

"Who is Ben Carson?"

Netflix the movie "Healing Hands" and it may be on YouTube also. It is about his life story. How he was raised by his Mom and he became a world famous neurosurgeon. The first one to separate conjoined twins at the brain. Fantastic life story.

I don’t want him to run because I want to see Ted Cruz as the only conservative candidate in the primaries, while the RINOs Romney, Bush, Christie, Huckabee, etc. split the “moderate” vote.

Is there any advantage for Dr. Carson announcing so early? Why give the left the advantage of time for a Palin/Cain personality assault?

He might be positioning himself for VP. I think he would be fantastic as head of HHS.

“I’m sorry! I like Ben Carson, but, after Barack Hussein Obama, it will be a long, long time before America will vote for another Black man for President.”

Thas racis!

But actually, yes that is racist. No matter how often or how loudly the Democrats tell you differently, my problem with B. Hussein has always been that he is an incompetent, arrogant, racist, Muslim Brotherhood supporting, communist (or anti-colonialist/anti-capitalist or whatever he is), not that he is black.

Maybe now the American people will understand what a role model for young African-Americans really looks and sound like.

Seems like a nice guy but don’t wast other people’s money Ben.

We aren’t ready for another black man in the white hut. That may not be fair but I don’t give a damn.

I think Ben is too timid and I am unconvinced of his loyalties.
