The Jobs Report Is Even Better Than It Looks

The topline of this mornings jobs report shows nonfarm payrolls expanding by 214,000 jobs in October. Its the sort of number that suggests a narrative of a continuing, albeit disappointing, economic recovery.
But dig a little deeper and you find a much sunnier story. When read carefully, todays report provides more evidence that the labor market is improving quite rapidly, and that the recovery has gained momentum over the past year.
The old saying is that the devil is in the details. Todays report suggests just the opposite dig into the details, and youll find a much sunnier story about the labor market. All told, I read todays report as providing more evidence that the labor market recovery is gaining steam.

how long before they start arguing that this jobs report would have changed the midterms?

Had a Republican been in the White House the last six years all the Slimes would have said was “jobless recovery.”

well, that’s a relief. I guess I can quit looking for work.

I hope the jobs market gets great again, but I have yet to see a smidgen of that out here in the real world.
And the NY Times saying its so gives me no comfort at all.

I'll believe it when I see these numbers start to go down. If the economy is doing so well, fewer people will need foodstamps.
I know the numbers in the chart are outdated. I cannot find one to keep up with Obama's poverty rates.

What a bunch of BS; nothing is improving for American workers except for a small number in select fields. When Asia can provide those workers the Americans in those jobs will be on the street as well.

Give a rest dudes. America proved Tuesday that they aren’t buying the numbers.

There have been times in the past where people in my technology sector would start looking for jobs and have offers within DAYS of commencing their search.
President Obama and his lapdog media can get back to us when jobs are plentiful and people are comfortable quitting their jobs to take a new role.
That is the honest-to-goodness measure of how the real-world American economy is truly doing. Jobs. J-O-B-S.

Wishing numbers into your existence, while discounting reality, seems self serving and arrogant.
There is no way job growth was near or barelt above the 300k suggested by this author.
Further, the author is wrong about statistics.
They are vastly over stated when it comes to growth and vastly underestimated for contactions of jobs.
There have been three instsnces, this year, when people involved in creating these reports have publicly stated the numbers are manipulated.
Do you like cherry or grape kool aid?

This must seem especially ironic to the several hundred people the NY Times have put out on the street over the past half dozen years. Being a fired print journalist or typesetter (buggy whip braider) is not exactly a hot resume enhancer.

Gee NYT, if only you could have got this good news out before the election, everything would have changed. Instead you’ve been able to run only one negative story after another about Obama and his economy.
Better luck next time I guess.

Well, they have to keep the lies going until they can once again blame Republicans for the economic disaster.
