And it’s worth pointing out the last non-Combiner Governor elected was Democrat Dan Walker in 1972. He upended the then-Lt Gov. Paul Simon (the designated Combiner Dem against Gov. Dick Ogilvie). When Walker won both the primary and the general, the Dem side (led by Mayor Daley, Sr) went to war against him and made his 4 years in office as miserable as the RINOs made Pete Fitzgerald’s. I have no doubt that all that bile directed at Walker contributed to Daley’s death, just a month after the 1976 elections that saw Jim Thompson beat Daley’s boy, Sec of State Michael Howlett (after the latter took out Gov. Walker in the Dem primary).

I didn’t figure he was a Tea Party type, but I figured he was better than Quinn.

he’s for gay rights, affirmative action, income redistribution, gun control and the extreme environmental agenda

You left out pro abortion.

Rauner is Illinois' Mitt Romney, possibly worse.

Any Republican in IL who gets elected that easily throws off alarm bells.

With all the corrupt politics there, you have to wonder why the Democrats purposely sabotaged Quinn - maybe he was tired of selling out his soul to the Combine?

You never do know. What we do know is Rauner won’t cross the people who gilded the path for him to the governor’s mansion.

Ray LaHood and Obama both belong to the Combine. You see in Chicago, there is no real difference between Democrats and Republicans.

You're right about LaHood, he was my congressman, his mentor, rino Bob Michael.

Now we have Aaron Schock, who was touted as a young Mr. Conservative. No sooner was he sworn in and started talking global warming and pushing a carbon tax.

I'd get outta here if I could but for various reasons, it appears, I never will but I will never again vote for a liberal. J. McCain was the last one for me.

I wouldn’t trust Schock as far as I could throw him.

Paying his debts, I guess.

Its hard to find an honest, unbought Republican in IL, whether or not he’s part of the Combine.

Same with the Democrats.

When Gay Charlie Crist left the Republican Party, it was really a trade for this guy. It’s what they call a ‘lose-lose’ deal, but fair.

I was going to vote for Chad Grimm the Libertarian for Governor until the last 2 days before the election. Got a mailer from Liberty group in Chicago, which seemed weird considering how much Liberty doesn’t exist there. Mailer said the Chad Grimm didn’t authorize the mailer either. Found out that it was affiliated with a union that really supported Quinn, Grimm did very well everywhere but right around Chicago. Most counties south of I 80 he got 4-8% of the vote, but Cook he got 2% DuPage 2 1/2% and cost him getting to 5%. Also Quinn ran an ad that I heard that made a story of 4 black TSA agents that he was uneasy about, 4 big guys that looked like Chicago Bears players and Bruce said they were supporting his candidacy. Quinn was playing an ad that took it totally out of context and tried to make Rauner hated black people. Plus it was close and Chad Grimm was polling below 5% due to being left out of debates and most of the free media that the 2 parties get.

With all that am I going to vote for Grimm when mailers are being sent out by Quinn supporters, DNC racism and class war campaign, and Quinnochio corruption and put up with him another 4 years and the race was neck and neck. My goal was to get a 3rd party major party status or get rid of Quinn and I picked the best option. Wish Julie Fox had got about 10,000 more votes, she would have got 5% then.

Post Number 6.

This guy is a Machine-Combine Crony from Day One. His Transition team reads like a whos-who of Machine hack-hacks.

One word: “Daley”.

Besides that everyone knows he’s Rahm’s bitch.

No win sitch, I can’t say I’m sad that the ****ing gangster Quinn wasn’t able to steal it AGAIN, 101 of 102 counties hate his guts.

3 possibilities

1)Rauner is like the Queen of England and Madigan is the Prime Minster, if he can hold his people (not a cinch on everything, it was hard for them to pass queer marriage, they needed RINOs) the veto pen is useless and Mike runs the state.

2)Rauner actively participates in the continued rape of the state and further hurts the GOP brand in the state, but what could happen because of that besides him losing in 2018? We lose more seats in the state leg? Which ones? This isn’t MA, rats are pretty well maxed out. No?

3)Rauner is able to use the powers of office to do a small amount of good on a few issues

One possibility if Quinn was reelected, (which he wasn’t, nothing was fixed against Quinn, Quinn is less popular than dog shite. It’s disgusting he came this close, if Rauner can still beat him after his barrage of negative advertising then there was clearly no way he could win over anyone this time) the continued violent rape of everything good and decent in Illinois. What was the upside of keeping Quinn? Keeping Rauner out doesn’t seem like reason enough to me. 4 MORE years of Quinn would have primed the state to elect a conservative next time over the objection of the combine? I don’t see it.

The PRIMARY on the other hand was fixed for Rauner, with many conservatives kissing his ring including supposed “tea party” leaders. But OTOH the unions wanted Dillard and tried to steal the primary for him by having rats vote in it, I guess the combine loves Dillard even more (though he’s ostensibly a social conservative), I know Quinn loves Dillard. I voted for Brady by default.

If anyone really thought Quinn winning was appreciably a better outcome in the long term, they should have voted FOR him rather than for the unqualified Libertarian or writing in the Constitution party guy, no? If Rauner is that pernicious it makes sense. Eh, Pete?

Say Dillard had been nominated in 2010 which he almost was, and he was elected. What would be worse today? Lisa Madigan would be Governor with a supermaj rat leg? That’s different than Quinn with supermaj rat leg?

In summary, F all of them, especially Pat Quinn. I’m not saying “yay Rauner” by any means but I’m not gonna complain that Quinn lost, I just can’t. I want to beat him with a baseball bat. Some drooling retard party thug standing outside the polling place tried to tell me to vote for him.

I don’t know how to break the combine but just letting the rats win doesn’t seem to do the trick.

I’m jealous of Maryland and Ohio. Hogan seems decent compared to Rauner and Chaz Baker. And Kasich won g**damn Cuyahoga county.

I thought it was a requirement that all Illinois governors report to federal prison after their term in office?

You mean like Otto Kerner (with a federal judgeship in between being governor and residing in the can)?

Otto was a friend of my grandfather. My long form was signed by Richard J. Daley, who was Cook County Crook Clerk, at the time.

Illinois sucks!

Us conservatives just can’t win living here in IL. I didn’t even bother to get up early to vote. Heard about Rauner and Rahm awhile ago.

I wouldn’t mind doing that. Grew up vacationing at the Dells. Seems a decent state to live in. If only I could convince my family to give up home, jobs, friends for new ones.

Was watching a House Hunters episode and some young ladies wanting a condo or something with a view because they gushed what a beautiful city Chicago is. Eh, it has a Lake. So do many other states. All I could see out their window were ugly tall buildings. I’ve lived close enough to it my whole life I never go there these days. Aside from visiting the museums it holds no allure to me due to the people who run it, and those who live there and elect them.

IL was already in so deep, it is “screwed” anyway. Put another way:

Blago was a complete disaster. F- and permanent “expulsion”.

Quinn was only slightly better (on rare occasions he actually did something I could tolerate, though most of the time he made me consider leaving the state — and I still might. (See “train wreck” below.) D-

Rauner has already staked out numerous positions I disagree with: From him I expect no better than a “C”.

Of course I wish IL could get an “A” or even a “B” Governor, but the reality is that I’m not sure even an A+ Governor can stop this train wreck.

Oh, so you are not curios why a “conservative” rag does NOT do its investigative reporting BEFORE a primary a election much less after the general election? I am damn curios why the hell they didn't inform me earlier.
