There’s your problem right there. Young officers should know the fundamentals of the constitution long before they get to Police Academy.
Obviously, that should be a top priority, but instead, they act as if it's not even important.
Does anyone recall a certain story regarding the Apostle Paul?
Subsequent to one of Paul's many arrests, he was casually beaten by a Roman guard.
Paul then informed the guard that he was a Roman citizen, at which point the guard's life was potentially forfeit, due to the fact that he had beaten a Roman citizen without the proper due process.
The same principle should apply nowadays.
Regard for the Constitutional rights of Americans should always be of paramount importance to law enforcement officers, and violation of those rights should bring severe penalties, as opposed to simply a slap on the wrist or nothing at all.
And anybody who's uncomfortable with that, or thinks that routine rudeness and physical or verbal abuse are acceptable, should stay the Hell away from a law enforcement career.
Enough is enough. Cops literally get away with assault and murder on a daily basis.
