Claims Halal certification fees fund terrorism 'absolutely wrong'
Claims money spent on fees to become Halal-certified go towards funding terrorism are "absolutely wrong", a business who provides the certification has said.
Fazal Muhammed from the Queensland Halal Certification Service was the one to provide Fleurieu Milk and Yoghurt Company with its Halal label.
The company faced an attack from people who claimed the fee it paid had been channelled into funding terrorism in the Middle East.
It cited negative publicity for a decision to end its $50,000-per-year yoghurt supply deal with airline Emirates.

My wife stopped buying Costco lamb because it was all Halal certified. She now gets lamb at Sams Club. Check your meat purchases for the, often very tiny, Halal symbol.
I never liked paying the Kosher tax on my food, either.
Any and all foods or products that are Halal should be required to have a warning label stating as much. Since such food has been sacrificed to idols i.e other “gods” (Satan) it is my opinion that Christians should not each such foods.
Acts 15:29 (KJV)
That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

A WARNING FROM DICK SMITH:
You may be aware that "Dick Smith" chain franchise stores are being pressured by the Islamic Council of Australia to gain 'Halal Certification' otherwise they willbe proscribed and banned from Muslim custom. This is their response:
A MESSAGE FROM DICK SMITH.
"We at Dick Smith's have received a number of letters from people asking if wewill be putting the Muslim Halal logo on our food.
To acquire Halal certification, payment is required to the endorsing body(the Islamic Council) and involves a number of site inspections of bothour growers and processors in order to ensure that our practices complywith the conditions of Halal certification.
It is important to note that this does not reflect the quality of the foodbeing processed or sold it only means that the products are approvedas being prepared in accordance with the traditions of the Muslim faith. We are aware of an increasing number of large companies both in Australia and overseas, such as Kraft and Cadbury, who have obtained accreditation to use the Halal logo. We dont believe they have done this because of any religious commitment but rather for purely commercial reasons. Perhaps these large organisations can afford to do this. While we have a choice however, we would prefer to avoid unnecessarily increasing the cost of our products in order to pay for Halal accreditation when this money would be better spent continuing to support important charitable causes where assistance is greatly needed.
We point out that we have never been asked to put a Christian symbol(or any other religious symbol) on our food requiring that we send money to a Christian organisation for the right to do so.
Others would add that money paid to ANY Muslim 'organisation'(and you had better believe it: these people ARE 'organised') can easily find its way into the hands of Islamic extremist-fanatics and murderers, irrespective of assurances to the contrary. What other assurances do we accept from Muslims? Oh, that's right,
'Islam is a religion of PEACE'!
Do you have an example of the symbol for those of us that might not know what it looks like?
No, they are not. But the cost of the payoff is still passed along to the customers, whether they want the ‘service’ or not.
Looks like they don’t have the uniformity that the Jews have (most of those either have the U in a circle from the Union of Orthodox Rabbis (looks like they call it the Orthodox Union now) or a san serif K.)
Some Halal symbols:
Thanks. I see what you mean about a lack of uniformity.
The original from Dick Smiths Foods was clear backing of the values of quality and economy, and rejecting bellyfeel.
Now, because of the stupidity of Rightwingnuts, progressives will be pointing to "fascist lies"
Dick Smith is not happy Dick Smith responds to misinformation being circulated in relation to Halal certification which claims to quote him ...
That's it. (without additions).
They aren't paying halal, that should be enough.
