McCain Assures Incoming GOP Senators Won’t Be More Ted Cruz Types
Mediaite ^ | Nov. 11, 2014 | Josh Feldman

Senators John McCain and Ted Cruz don’t exactly have the best relationship. Cruz has said Republicans like McCain are why their party doesn’t do better, and McCain has not been shy about publicly dumping on Cruz, especially during last year’s government shutdown.

And in a new interview with Salon today, McCain wanted to make it clear that the incoming crop of Republicans that will give their party control of the Senate will not be Cruzes. McCain even claimed that a lot of the GOP Senate candidates who won are in the same mold as himself and Lindsey Graham.

2014 saw both TeaParty Cruz-Lee-Rubio-Paul. 2014 also saw Mark Kirk of IL, a future Arlen Specter. Now is the time for Conservatives/libertarians/populists/all anti-establishment activists to look at which Senators and Reps (from either party) to target in 2016 in the primary...or general.

We need to find candidates who know how to kiss babies and eat apple pie as well as how to support the constitution.

We need to unite around a candidate who is better than the incumbent and throw the incumbent out. This new candidate will not be perfect on every issue. An example, again from IL, is Sen Peter Fitzgerald. He was wrong on drilling in Anwr. But on pro-life and corruption he was so much better than anything else that we could tolerate his mistake on drilling.

On the other hand, we could ignore the real enemy and fight among ourselves.

I might be content with no more senators like Ted Cruz if I could be assured that we would never, ever have another senator or presidential candidate like you.

You are worthless and weak, and your bumbling campaign gave us a dictator instead of a president.

Shut up and go away.

He never goes after the dims. The reason: He’s one of them. McStain will sabotage the repeal of all or any part of obamneycare. I fully expect him to switch parties in 2016. There would be nothing sweeter than for Governor Palin to take that Senate seat in 2016. Well, maybe if she takes the Oval Office.

-- There are several of us anxiously waiting to hear the words "We were wrong". I wonder if there are any with the integrity to speak them. --

The closest I've ever seen is DeMint. In this speech, he asserts that the government is dishonest, and that it is the cause of much of what ails the country.

McCain even claimed that a lot of the GOP Senate candidates who won are in the same mold as himself and Lindsey Graham. .................................................... I guess that means that none of them would win as a candidate running for President??

Problem is, we've been hearing that line since 2008.

In 2008 I held my nose and pulled for McCain, to my shame… but I promised myself I'd never hold my nose again.
When Romney won the primaries for 2012 it signaled to me that the Republican Party had no intention of doing anything of any drastic difference than the Democrats — this is why I find nothing at all surprising about their push for amnesty, or their non-action on the IRS (or NSA, or Fast and Furious, etc).

Yet, when it comes time for all these holier-than-thou type conservatives to make the jump, they won't do it. Until they are ready to do so, they need to shut up and figure out how to "save" the GOP. If they can't, then drop it and make the plunge. Stop just telling us about it.

*shrug* — I've come across a fair amount of people who are coming around to the realization that if the Party doesn't stand for the things we want (like e.g. fiscal responsibility) then they've no reason for existence, much less support.

You’re missing my point.

It’s easy for FReepers to sit around on a forum and complain and swear that they’re never gonna vote Republican again.

It’s a lot harder to actually do something about it. And most FReepers are afraid to do the heavy lifting needed to do anything about it.

So until they change that, there’s no reason to pay them any mind.

That's one possibility. America's Party is another.

Yeah, it is pointless to get upset over McCain and his childish behavior. He is nearing the point of retirement....

Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond got better as they grew older. McCain is just getting crankier. Arizona, replace him with a constitutional conservative, please.
