An army of One: Ted Cruz is leading the charge against Obamacare. But no one's following.
Politico ^ | 11/12/2014 | David Nather

Ted Cruz is still ready to use any means necessary to repeal Obamacare.

But even his fellow conservatives aren’t all jumping on board – a sign that the Republican repeal or bust movement is struggling while Obamacare continues to enroll millions of people with health insurance.

While Cruz wants to use a draconian budget measure to repeal Obamacare with just 51 votes in the Senate, he looks to be increasingly out on a limb. Utah Republican Mike Lee, a leader in the conservative movement, isn’t sold on the so-called budget reconciliation procedure to gut the law. Rand Paul says he’s for repeal but is hedging on exactly how to do it.

Mitch McConnell, who may enjoy a 54 vote Senate Republican majority by January, won’t commit to using the simple majority vote to kill Obamacare. And none of the Republican 2016 presidential candidates are pushing hard for the more radical Senate procedures to repeal the health care law.

Interviews with a wide range of key figures in the Senate and within the conservative movement show that while the party may be united rhetorically on repealing Obamacare, Republicans are surprisingly squishy on exactly how to do it.

The most popular response is to say, “yes, I’m for repeal,” but without saying how. Paul spokesman Brian Darling says the Kentucky senator “is committed one hundred percent to a full repeal,” but added that “using regular order or reconciliation or both is an inside the beltway fight.” And Steve Daines, the newly elected senator from Montana, said through a spokesman only that he “supports fully repealing Obamacare” and “will closely examine how to most effectively achieve that goal.”

And that doesn’t even address the moderates like Maine Republican Susan Collins, or politically vulnerable blue state Republicans who are up for re-election in 2016.

Well to be fair, who does stupid better than a Reoublican? they have cornered the market on it. It has become their brand and they mose assuredly ride for the brand.

Look at the logic of the GOP

You promise to end obamagare by funding it 3 times

You oppose amnesty by playing word games with the definition.

You hold the admin’s feet to fire by launching another useless investigation to push aside the last go nowhere investigation.

You run Romney clones because the base tell you not to

Then there are the people that defend that making fools of themselves in public every day. The above is history. Fact. Not arguable. And yet people stupidly do.

Politico. “Attempted self-fulfilling media prophecy” alert.

‘Nuff said.

Please cut-and-paste an example of a lie I have posted about you.

Your debating tactic (lolol!!!{^) is pretty much limited to accusing me of being a "moron ... stepping on your own tiny wee wee" who has a low IQ and is in need of "special ed classes."

In other words ... C.E.W., YA GOT NOTHIN'.

So you can only flail with personal insults instead of actual debate of ideas and concepts.

Thanks for proving that I won this argument! {^) Also, thanks for confirming that I make the right decision when I mostly skip your posts and delete your FReepmails unread.

Until you demonstrate that you're capable of exhibiting good manners and a civil tongue (which you ARE at times, and at those times I enjoy your posts even when I disagree with them), I will continue to lightly skim and mostly skip your posts, and hope that others do the same. Bad manners -- which you exhibit in spades -- should be shown the door.

Well they are the leadership of the party and all but maybe 10 if you stretch it in congress. So RINO IS the Republican party now.

The Cruz/Lee types need to leave before the association taints them.

Why is this so hard for even the RINOs to deal with? Everything I've seen says that CommieCrap is unpopular amongst a large majority of Americans-why would they need to even be worried about at least gutting it into oblivion, if they can't overturn it?

You are very nasty to FReepers, again.

Just like your Master and sweetheart, Mitt Romney.

They say are for repeal, yet do not want to actually vote to repeal it.

Because RINOs and their supporters want communism. Just their version. They vote for it. They enact it into law. Ergo they want it.

David Nather, Politico "journalist" who shamelessly shills for Obamacare....

Ms. Nather writes:

Cruz wants to use a draconian budget measure to repeal Obamacare with just 51 votes in the Senate...

Did lil' Davie report the way the Democrat Party passed Obamacare as "draconian"? Because it was oh so draconian...

In the end, folks, Nather and the other hacks for Obama/Hillary and the Demonrats will be on the wrong side of history. You see, totalitarianism and top-down control of populations has a limited life span....and the Nathers and Politicos and other Obamaphiles and Hillary worshipers haven't learned enough history to grasp that fact. Yet.

So, in the end, they'll lose.

Perhaps it would make sense to wait to see what the SCOTUS does about the subsidy. If they rule “correctly,” the job of Congress becomes infinitely easier. We should know that ruling by June.

But it’s the job of congress. If the court has to strike it down, it lets congress off the hook. It is their job and their responsibility.

Isn’t that exactly the way things have been for at least the past few decades? SCOTUS has empowered itself to do the heavy lifting.

Then again, if they were to rule “correctly” it’d be a lot quicker/cleaner than trying to get anything thru the Congress. The negotiation would be among 9 vs. 535.

That whole “balance of power” thing was such a quaint notion!

If they have to rule on this first because the GOP are their typically cowardly self, so be it. But that cowardice is wholly why the USSC has taken so much power.

We really should disband congress anyway. they don’t do anything of value anymore.

So RINO IS the Republican party now.

The term "RINO" has really outlived its usefulness because it now means exactly the opposite of what it originally meant. In a very real sense, Ted Cruz is a RINO, because though nominally a Republican, he stands for something very different than the party in general. And thank goodness for that!

...while Obamacare continues to enroll millions of people with health insurance.

Huh? Did they fire the editors at Politico? First, it isn't continuing to sign up "millions" and why would they sign up people WITH insurance?

I’m creating a Ping List of RINO loving FReepers that spent all year screaming “we have to take the Senate”. I’m going to ping them constantly every time the RINO’s stab us in the back.

I hope they get sick and tired of them.

And now they want to use the lame duck Congress to pass a full year CR full of liberal overspending. Because just like the DEMS, McConnell et al don’t want to deal with the budget.

Why is this so hard for even the RINOs to deal with?

Because Beltway RINOs refuse to bite the hand that feeds them -- and that hand ain't ours.
