It has not escaped the notice of political analysts that 72 percent of whites without college degrees a rough proxy for what we used to call the white working class believe that the U.S. economic system generally favors the wealthy. Or that on Nov. 4, these same men and women voted for Republican House candidates 64-34.
Similarly, the overwhelmingly white electorates of Alaska, Arkansas, Nebraska and South Dakota voted decisively in referendums to raise the minimum wage while simultaneously voting for Republicans, whose party has adamantly rejected legislation to raise the minimum wage.
There is an ongoing debate among politicians, political scientists and partisans of both parties over the dismal support of Democratic candidates among whites. Does it result from ideological differences, racial animosity or a perception among many whites that they are excluded from a coalition of minorities, the poor, single women of all races, gays and other previously marginalized constituencies?
Arguably, the poor Democratic showing among whites does not represent naked race prejudice, as Obamas election and re-election attest. But it can be seen as a reflection of substantial material interests that affect the very voters who carry greater weight in low turnout midterm Congressional elections.
Whites as a whole, who made up 75 percent of this years electorate, voted for Republican House candidates by a 24-point margin, 62-38, the exact same margin by which they supported Republican candidates in the 2010 midterms....

If liberal blacks consider conservative blacks to be traitors to their race, does that mean liberal whites are traitors as well?
There is a HUGE opportunity here for conservatives.
We need to show our policies will benefit workers, the middle class, families.
Energy for jobs. Less regulation for jobs. Tax reform to help workers and create jobs.
Then health care reform to make it affordable.
Education reform to make it actually improve the education of children not enrich unions.
Border security and Immigration reform to prevent the flooding of the country with cheap illegal labor.
No it means to liberals white voters are knuckle-dragging dyed-in-the wool redneck racists.
Food for thought. Stop the war on coal and fracking. Their Democratic Party ways are not my ways. Their party of big government is not conducive to my welfare.
Gee, it might have something to do with a good number of Democrats calling whites the cause of all things bad... That if blacks fail at something it must be a white persons fault somewhere.
And just look at Ferguson... It doesn’t take to much brain power to discern what’s going on there... Truth and justice is not what is sought there. Just get the white cop no matter the facts while many Democrats incite more anger and violence.
Ping for later
Majority of Whites = Republican
Majority of Black/Hispanic = Democrat
White Gays and Socialists= Independents
I predict that when the Democrat party goes "Majority Minority," it will lose much of it's income and soon become a fringe party.
Except that Hispanics are headed our way.
Millennials (and Young Hispanics) bolt Obama for GOP in Midterms

Democrats openly hate on the white working class, then they wonder why they won’t vote for them.
I cast my first and last vote as a democRAT in 1980 when I voted for Reagan. I was quick to realize that voting democRAT was suicidal.
The demise was 6 years of devastating Obama/democrat/socialist economic reality slapping them across the face.
I’m doing my part. Re-educating my co-worker who was raised Republican, but bought into the feminazi crap and turned Demonrat. She actually thought that Hollywood Elitists vote Republican “because they are rich.”
She voted straight Pubbie this last election. We are in NY so we only have a selection of RINOs. She received one of those Cuomo love letters telling her that she’d BETTER vote Demonrat this election. It pissed her off.
As you implied, Hispanics are the REALLY BIG story of this election. Here in Texas they voted about 55/45 Democrat, while whites voted 75/25 Republican. Put those two numbers together, even with nearly all black votes going Democrat, you have the 20 point GOP VICTORIES here. And that was all done WITHOUT ANY PANDERING. In fact, Dan Patrick here, our soon to be Lt. Governor, was clear that he opposes Amnesty, Open Borders, in-state tuition for Illegals, and Sanctuary Cities. He was CLEAR AS DAY on those positions and still got 46% of the Hispanic vote.
Another factor, not talked about at all, but I think huge, was gun control. (legal) Hispanics, like whites, own LOTS OF GUNS in Texas and saw what Obama and the Dems had in mind. There is virtually no other issue that can trump a person’s vote if they perceive someone is going after their guns. In 2006, the last time Dems did (fairly) well with whites, was when the Dems took the House. I SPECIFICALLY remember Pelosi’s strategy, at the time, which I considered brilliant, was to let the Dems (especially southern/rural Dems) run on ANYTHING they wanted. If they wanted to run against gun control, then fine - so be it. With that strategy and no push for gun control, they “brought home” a lot of white votes. But given the Sandy Hook shootings, all that “goodwill” was again lost - the Dems just can’t help themselves on that issue, thankfully.
“Does it result from ideological differences, racial animosity or a perception among many whites that they are excluded from a coalition of minorities, the poor, single women of all races, gays and other previously marginalized constituencies?”
Obama would have never been elected twice if it was racism. The fact is that affirmative action marginalizes white men, and their women may be waking up to the fact that families are not in their futures because of that. How many successful career white women are satisfied with paying for others’ children while they can’t have their own?
The author should have included all women in the “coalition”; they are beneficiaries of the same programs.
The Hispanic pitch for Dems is tough because they already promised the world to another minority du jour (blacks); Hispanics want their own in the patronage and political jobs, and know they have no common cause with blacks.
“Hispanics want their own in the patronage and political jobs, and know they have no common cause with blacks.”
To a point, but they also would like to be left alone and raise their families (and keep their guns, at least here in Texas). Unlike another political group, Hispanics do not equate working for a living with slavery.
They are dying off too.
When Obama gives amnesty to 5 million illegal aliens, as he apparently plans to do very soon, the media and the Democrats can frame it as "anyone who doesn't approve of this is a racist--they wouldn't object if the illegals were all white Europeans." That will make whites love the Democrats even more.
What is the "working class" anyway other than a Marxist label? Who decides who is "working class" and who is "middle class"?
