The problem with fighting “Universal Background Check” laws is they sound logical to the average mostly uninformed voter - “If retail gun sales required a check, then why not all sales, period.”
Of course there are plenty of reasons why not, but they are harder to explain in a quick sound bite. And of course, the insidious transfer and other absurd restrictions are never discussed.
Did you or did you not HAND a firearm to someone? Answer the question. Yes or no. Well, did you? Pretty scary huh? And extremely sad that the American public has become so ignorant of their rights.
