A BRIEF INTERLUDE WITH EXPERT OPINION (Interview with arrogant Gruber, 2013)

Gruber saves some special scorn for the Republican governors who have bravely said no to...Free Money!

"What I don't get is these STUPID governors who are turning down the Medicaid expansion," he said. "This is preposterously STUPID. First of all, your low-income people get health-insurance, and you get billions and billions of dollars of stimulus in health-care spending. For example, there are one million uninsured Floridians who are below the poverty line. The federal government is saying we'll pay to insure them, and, in addition, we're sending billions of dollars to you. And Rick Scott says no. There is no basis for turning this down except to put your political agenda ahead of the needs of your state's citizens. They say they're worried about the federal deficit? Why? They're governors, for god's sake. This is one of the criminal failures of our political system. It is an enormous failure."

Gov Brewer went along with the Medicaid expansion to get the money. ‘If we don’t take it, it will go to another state who is expanding Medicaid’ (paraphrase). Never mind the money was coming from the TAXPAYERS!

Clearly it’s time for Gruber to take new look at the word stupid.

These people are worse than drug pushers.

The so called “free money” from the federal dealers is at the expense of the state losing its freedoms, and subjecting itself to whatever strings the feds want to pull.

Besides, where does all this “free money” that the fed is throwing around comes from?

So this ‘free money’ comes without any State matching, or strings? Whoda thunkit!

I wonder how this arrogant SOB likes it that democrats are all claiming to never have known him.
I hope his reputation and career are ruined for good.

“Free money” ...for a limited time. It’s like a no payments until Christmas of next year plan...then your budget explodes.

In addition to that, I recall that it was only for a limited time, like 10 years, then the states had to foot the entire bill of the expanded program.

Except that the federal government is taking these billions from the states in the first place, and then giving it back in federal subsidies.

If left in the states, these billions would go into the local economies in the form of pay, shopping, sales taxes, etc., by the people who earned the billions before the federal government confiscates it.

If I remember correctly, the Fed $ were for 2 years only. After that, the state would have to find a way to pay for it through, let’s say, higher property taxes, higher state taxes, higher state gasoline taxes, etc.

As I recall, the Federal Government is not covering all the costs for the Medicaid expansion. There would be a State contribution at some point.

Anyone with better knowledge should post what they know.

The federal government is saying we'll pay to insure them...

Wrong, Stupid. The taxpayer pays for them and we've just about had enough of that kind of mentality.

I think she took the money to save Arizona hospitals from going under due to unreimbursed care of illegals. However, one of her aides used to lobby or work for the AZ hospital group so I’m sure he was whispering sweet nothings in her ear at that time.

Seems one of Obama's executive orders, dated 1/11/2010...#13528 establishing the "Council of Governors". Did not work out as hoped...at least as far as Gruber wanted.

Governors don't have children and grandchildren that are going to saddled with that debt? Or are they just not supposed to care?

And that the federal taxpayers’ money only lasts two years and then must come from state taxes.
