Russian Bear is Roaring Again
texasgopvote.com ^ | November 14, 2014 | Ted Poe

While the eyes of the world are on ISIS, the Russian bear has quietly come out of hibernation. Putin is back after a brief hiatus, seeking to devour his neighbors and reclaim his kingdom while once again sending covert henchmen into eastern Ukraine. The Napoleon of Siberia is systematically trying to reestablish imperial Russia with him as the czar.

According to U.S. General Phillip Breedlove, recently, “new Russian tanks, Russian artillery, Russian air defense systems, and Russian combat troops have entered eastern Ukraine.” News reports indicate five of the trucks were towing 120-millimeter howitzer artillery pieces, and another five were towing partly covered multilaunch rocket systems.

This sounds like an aggression to me.

Of course, the Kremlin lies and denies it all. And why is this aggression continuing? Because, on the world stage, America looks weak and leaderless. Reset buttons and red lines don’t mean anything to Putin. Our hollow objections to Russia are meaningless. The Russian bear needs to stop its cold war II-type aggression and return back to the cave.

What is America’s plan?

“Your mancrush on the mass murderer Putin has turned you into an insane anti-American lunatic. “

Sorry TRAITOR, but I will attack my country ANY TIME that I believe that it has not lived up to the NUMBER ONE reason we have countries, which is to protect borders (including military capability).

You may HATE that I point stuff out, but LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT. Some of us are not TOTAL IDIOTS that seem to think that nothing has changed in the past 20 years. SOME OF US keep up with what is going on, WITH RUSSIA, WITH CHINA, and with any other country that potentially threaten us.

If you want to continue wearing your foggles that make you think that the Cold War is over and no other country will ever pose a threat to us, that is YOUR PROBLEM, but it is not my problem. You can keep trying to convince others of your contorted position, but I will not join you.

You are the traitor since you support our foreign enemy because you don’t like Obama. I am precisely not a traitor because I would never support our enemies no matter how much I hate Obama. All it took to cause you too betray America and support our enemies is that your side lost the presidency. My loyalty to my nation is not that shallow. I understand that my side may lose the Presidency but I will remain loyal to the USA and will never support America’s enemies no matter what. My disdain for Obama will never cause me to become a traitor to the USA as you have done. When proud American Conservative patriots take our country back from Obama, we won’t forget how you betrayed us and supported our enemies.

Ok, I was wondering who was the DEMOCRAT TROLL was on this site. Since you say “your side lost the presidency”, one can only conclude that YOUR SIDE won the presidency.

Thank you for EXPOSING yourself, but sorry - if the Moderators will not DELETE YOU, I will have to continue to let the rest of our site know just who you are, and who’s side you’re on.

By the way, for others, here is your site:

For the record, my first choice in 2016 is Ted Cruz. Ted Cruz understands the threat posed to the USA by our Russian enemies. Ted Cruz has no sympathy for evil men like Vladimir Putin. You like Vladimir Putin because you are a man of low character, unlike Ted Cruz. I won’t falsely accuse you of being a Democrat as you have done to me. I understand that you hate Obama, that is exactly why you support Vladimir Putin, America’s enemy. You probably support Rand Paul because he is a coward who wants to try to appease our foreign enemies like Putin, just like you do. Brave patriotic conservatives like Ted Cruz stand against cowards like you and the Paul family who stand against the USA with our foreign Russian enemies.

“You probably support Rand Paul because he is a coward who wants to try to appease our foreign enemies like Putin”

You are MORE THAN WELCOME to post a link from me (out of 20,000 posts) where I say that I support Rand Paul because he seems to love Putin.

If you look hard enough, you will see that Rand Paul did impress me in that he was able to connect with the 30s crowd regarding privacy and drone attacks. But then Rand was THROUGH WITH ME when he came out for FELON VOTING and against VOTER ID (about a year ago), and I have not supported him since.

So try again. My problem, AGAIN, is that we have a TOTALLY NEGLECTED MILITARY, yet “some of us” seem to still think it’s the Reagan Military that won us the Cold War.

If we want to go toe-to-toe against Putin, perhaps we should AVOID doing what Britain and France did in 1939, and instead have a military that can actually take him on.

But I doubt that makes any sense to you.

We don’t need a military as powerful as our Cold War military to face Russia because Russia is not as powerful as the Soviet Union was, not even close. This is a fact that you continue to ignore. Your adoration for our enemy has blinded you to the fact that they are a mere shadow of their former self. Just take a second to read the chart ansel posted upthread. Think about it for a second and actually acknowledge it instead of totally ignoring it as you have done over and over on thread after thread. The Soviet Union had EIGHT TIMES as many soldiers as Putin’s Russia. They had FOUR TIMES as many soldiers in reserve. The Soviet had TWENTY FIVE TIMES as many tanks as Putin’s Russia. They had SEVEN TIMES as many aircraft. The Soviets had 3.75 TIMES as many nuclear weapons as Putin has. You keep saying they have modernized their weapons but you ignore the fact that they are using bombers from the 1950’s.

Russia’s forces are FAR INFERIOR to ours. They depend on an army of conscripts. They would literally have NO CHANCE of defeating us in a war.

Wake up!

I can't speak to actual military power of Russia or Nato and other countries.....except they're 'all' gearing up now. What I do know is Putin's maneuver’s in Crimea showed Russia's technological capability to our Military leaders, who stated that it was much further advanced then they had previously determined...and surprisingly so....according to Admiral Breedlove when he spoke at the Atlantic Council ....as well as the conversations among Military Leaders.

So the up side is 'they now know Russia's capability ', at least what was shown In Crimea, and from that Russia is further along then they had speculated..........

They won't be surprised again.

You are blowing up a little into a lot, the language you heard is common and has been used by our generals and admirals all of your life in describing opponents.

Russia is weak and backwards except for a few well trained elite units and limited modern weaponry to supply them with.

No one said that Russia can’t conduct small invasions against small and weak opponents, they just can’t play with the big boys and conduct major invasions and sustained operations or project force, and can’t hold a candle to NATO and the United States.

....” just maybe underfunded into submission by leftist American leaders”....

Well that is a concern... but it appears our Military Representatives to Congress have been working at changing that...and have....as a result of Crimea. However it’s also the reason Obama has sought Nato Nations to cough up their Military involvement and funding.....we would not be working in the Baltics etc as we have been of recent had the Nato countries not stepped up.

I won't argue that...except Russia's already threatened Nuclear...which they have definitely upgraded as they are fully aware they cannot stand their Military might against US or Nato in a Major War..... Putin sees his Nuclear Capability as his strongest deterrent....though I doubt he would actually use it in the current theater's as they are. That does not mean he wouldn't sometime in the future if he feels he's been pushed too far into the corner without an escape route. So that's the line eventually will be faced if things continue on the trajectory they are.

I think US/Eu will appease Putin in some fashion for a time in order to gain the advantages they do need. His desire to have International Recognition is very powerful within....just as Obama’s....in that respect they're both Identical and why they cannot get along and never will. I believe Putin's desire for that Recognition can overshadow his Nationalistic tendencies when it comes right down to it, which we saw on display at the Apec Summit....and will in the end be his downfall.

Deterrent to what NATO not allowing him to invade them?

You grew up when Russia had a huge nuclear stockpile, now that they are down to a country of 142 million people you think that they suddenly want to have WWIII and go out in a blaze of nuclear fire by going nuke against the major nuclear powers?

I cannot figure out where you guys are getting these out of the world fantasies about this mythical Russia that you seem to be confusing with the old Soviet Empire, you also seem to be thinking that Putin is a suicidal maniac wanting to die in a nuclear holocaust and take
Russia with him.

Read post 64 and look at post 57 to try and get some context.

You’re still living in the Russia of 20 years ago. You guys nearly cost us and Europe WW2 by saying that the Germans and Japanese were paper tigers. We know your type, it’s called America First, and it was a sickness.

Ansell...it’s not about a “mythical Russia”...Russia DOES have Nuclear Weapons...and that’s a well established fact. Below are just a couple articles of ‘many reporting’ Russia’s leadership comments regarding Nuclear use over this year..

I do not think Putin is a “suicidal maniac” but when and if he ever uses Nuclear he will not be alone in doing so...and he knows that as well as does our own military. So these are not “fantasies” as you’ve stated.....Would he actually do so? Again only if all other options have been exhausted and a major war is begun.

He then stated that Moscow has a military doctrine that “very clearly” outlines how Moscow would respond to threats to its territorial integrity. The military doctrine “very clearly” states that the “Russian Federation reserves the right to utilize nuclear weapons” in these situations.

August 2014..... Putin talked about his country’s most destructive weaponry.... “I want to remind you that Russia is one of the most powerful nuclear nations,” he said. “This is a reality, not just words.” Russia, he told listeners, is “strengthening our nuclear deterrence forces.”......
That same day, Putin used a term for eastern Ukraine meaning “New Russia.” So when he refers to repelling “any aggression against Russia” and speaks of “nuclear deterrence,” as he did on Friday, the Russian president is really warning us he will use nukes to protect his grab of Ukrainian territory.

No...I have to disagree here...it’s a reality when it comes to our capability....then and now make no mistake about that, it’s not a “sickness” it’s a fact.

I guess you (and the rest of the country) will simply have to find out the hard way then.

The idea of totally neglecting our military for DECADES at at time comes without consequences seems to be a lesson that must be learned in every generation. So here we go again...

Bob...Military might is defined very differently today then years ago....we have today drones that can carry nuclear pay load just as an example....and there’s more than one form of Nuclear Weaponry developed since then. Not to mention the very capability of our soldiers and what they can accomplish.

I don’t think people are saying we shouldn’t increase the funding...as mentioned prior the Us Military Representatives have made it very clear what needs to be done....but with Obama’s agenda that we not go alone in any conflict...now that’s another story!
