With the general election a happy very happy! memory, now comes time to elect the third-ranking constitutional office: the Texas House Speaker. Lobbyists and lawmakers are accustomed to citizens checking out as the governing begins; in truth, citizens must be more engaged than ever.
STRAUS AGENDA: STOP CONSERVATIVES
House Speaker Joe Straus and his leadership team have made it abundantly clear that killing conservative reforms tops their agenda. Spending limitations, tax reform, education reforms, pro-life legislation
are all viewed with disdain by the Straus leadership team.
We know that because they have blocked those measures for two sessions running, despite a near super-majority of self-described conservative Republicans. And we know that because Straus team members have openly stated their intent is to block conservative legislation coming from the Senate
RACE IS ON
State Rep. Scott Turner, a dynamic conservative from the Metroplex, has announced his candidacy for the speakership. Turner has been travelling the state speaking to conservative groups. In the times I have heard him speak, Mr. Turners message has been focused on making the Texas House truly a house of the people, a legislative body that is transparent and open to the citizens.
What is your legislator supporting: cronies perpetuating a culture of backroom deals, closed doors and retribution, or a leadership fairly giving a voice to the reforms Texans demand?
If you dont know today, you will know on Jan. 13, 2015, when House members take a record vote. They will be voting for either an Austin insider who uses his power to thwart good government, or a conservative campaigning on a message of reform and integrity. Who would you chose?
Let your representative know on what side you stand. And dont forget what they choose.

After the recent election there are 98 Republicans and 52 Democrats in the Texas House. It remains to be seen if at least 24 RINOs will join with all 52 Democrats for the 76 votes to reelect Straus. Scott Turner is a solid conservative running against Straus for Speaker. It is hard to believe that out of 98 Republicans, there are not at least 76 that will vote for Scott Turner.
Just as numerous bills and pro-growth reforms have been passed by Speaker John Boehners House, only to languish in Harry Reids Senate, next year could provide an analogous situation in Austin, in which the state senate passes a host of conservative reforms such as tax relief and school choice only to see them die in Speaker Strauss House is he is reelected.
Hopefully when the sun sets on January 13, 2015, Joe Straus’ reign as defender of corruption and ‘RATS will be over. If he’s defeated, Texas will become even more dynamic.
Here’s hoping!
The BIG PROBLEM that Straus will have will be keeping his seat in the 2016 Primary.
THINGS ARE DIFFERENT NOW. Straus has TWO OPTIONS. He can get out of the way, figuratively or literally (figuratively by not getting in the way of long-needed legislation, or literally, by not running for Speaker), or he will be PRIMARIED-OUT of his job in 2016.
People are watching, VERY CLOSELY, particularly Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott. If Straus tries to undercut them, Straus will be hanging a shingle on Congress Street in 2017, WITHOUT A DOUBT.
Gio Capriglonii already flipped to RINO after running as a Tea Partier..
It’s going to take a crowbar and a prayer to separate Straus from the speakership, but State Rep. Scott Turner is the man to do it. He may be able to get enough votes if he works the floor in the right manner.
But he has to convince the Straus supporters the speakership is going to change anyway as more conservatives are elected, and maybe now is a good time for some to make that switch if they want to keep their select committee appointments or receive new ones. And some are beginning to listen to the conservative voters in their districts.
Meanwhile down at the grass roots, we will keep working to elect the most conservative candidates and send them to Austin.

PLEASE, CALL ON YOUR LEGISLATOR TO VOTE FOR SCOTT TURNER, OR FIRE THEM NEXT TIME AROUND.
I support Turner
Their are 65 Rinos that would join the dems. Hence, Gio’s position.
It’s time to take a page out of the Dem playbook and call all who don’t vote for turner...RACIST!!!
I do not follow Texas state level that much, but Joe Straus has got to go. What little I know is that he has undercut the Republicans in the State House at nearly every turn, which makes him a RINO.
Dewhurst is gone, and so are several of his cronies in Texas government.

What the H*ll am I going to do with SARA DAVIS?
That's what has to happen. Thank you for your service, by not voting for liberal republicans to send to Austin. We've got enough down there.

I’m for the cute one.

Yes, we encourage and support conservatives to run for office at any elected office (from dog catcher to governor) in Texas. Hopefully, that means you’re going to see some new faces down in Austin after each election until the RINOs are gone. Of course we support the re-election of those currently in office who have a conservative voting record.
GOPers are lazy, they always re-appoint the person sitting there it seems.
lol
Contact your conservative or Pubbie Texas House Reps and ask who they’re supporting for Speaker. If they say Straus the Louse, tell them they’ll be ousted.
