Couple of things - google “john derbyshire the talk” and see if your kids are prepared for “the talk”. This has been HEAVILY derided by the left as “racist”, but it is simply common sense based on data.
Another point - edged weapons. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that a homeowner with an edged weapon will defeat a home invader with a firearm nearly every time the trial is run. This is because of the huge advantage of picking your ambush point.
I lived in Japan 2 years in the service. That’s the way they do it. 10,000 riot cops dresses in blue with full riot gear vs 500 rioters.
Game over every time.
That said, Japanese rioters ARE NOT feral black males in the US.

I could see the advantage of an edged weapon in close quarters where the user can choose the point of attack; it also must be demoralizing as Hell to have someone swinging at you with a hatchet.
When Rome took England but failed to make much headway in Scotland (building a wall across the island of Britain instead), I always wondered whether or not this was related to them dealing with painted, screaming, naked Scots with edged weapons...
The dead will inevitably be brainwashed career college students persuaded to be the change agents for a cause noble. They will confront authority. Agitators will inspire the expendable human sacrifices into the breach...then advance to the rear....when the lead flies.

You are mistaken. Federal armed forces are mandated by the U.S. Constitution as a duty of the Federal Government in the event of insurrections and so forth. The Possee Comitatus law does not apply in such situations.
