That's the truth. On a typical thread, you'll have a handful of serious/interesting replies, and 100 others that are elementary school level nonsense. (not to mention some of the religious people that seem to feel insecure about them for whatever reason)
You guys might want to check out “Kaslin” and “SunkenCiv” for excellent science and engineering posts.
They usually post late at night, like I do, and the audience is a bit more appreciative, but not always.
I agree, though, that a lot of really cool science posts degenerate quickly to bad puns and Photoshop humor.
