And that’s bad???

Perhaps the positive effects of immigration (both legal and illegal) outweigh the negatives, big picture wise. I see the solution to illegal immigration as one of mitigation rather than draconian prohibition

I don't think you will find many Freepers here who do not support controlled legal immigration. It's a great way to secure new talent and ideas much like we have always had in our history. The problem is the hoard from the south of the border who choose not to play by the rules. Thus creating the need for what you call "draconian prohibition". The ones who lose are the ones trying to get into the country legally.

I didn’t say it’s bad. It is what it is, whether anyone thinks it’s “bad” or “good.”

Depends on which big picture you are seeing. If the end result is one where laws don’t matter, the Constitution is trampled, our culture and history are replaced by those of the third world mob mentality, increased fascism, more ignorance than we even have now in our public schools, more national debt because the invaders consume more tax dollars than they pay in, even lower education standards because the culture of those streaming across the border unchecked do not value academics - I’d just as soon not be around to see it.
