Gabrielle Giffords’ group: We’ll push gun debate in 2016

Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ anti-gun violence super PAC spent $10.6 million in the midterms and won barely won half of its contests — but the group is already preparing for 2016 and plans to get involved in the GOP presidential primaries.

The group, Americans for Responsible Solutions, faces a steep task: Gun control has hardly registered as an issue on the campaign trail, there’s strident opposition to possible restrictions from the Republican base, and the pro-gun lobby, led by the National Rifle Association, remains formidable.

Have no doubt, they will be pushing it hard and pony-ing up big bucks to take advantage of states with a ballot initiative process and the lack of knowledge by the average no/low info voters. And those that just don't care since it doesn't affect them. So, the MAIGots, the mommies, the vpc'rs, the horses ARSes will be making the rounds with bags of cash. Heck, they may even fly folks in from out of state to push their anti-2nd BS.

The more money they spend, the more guns we buy.

Looks like she will be trolling for schools to shoot up. Or make sure she can roll around in the blood.

Just as Republicans were in control when the “assault” weapons ban was instituted, so will any real “progress” be in the new attempt. Rino’s will compromise on just about anything to be loved, even though they never will. It is as Rush says, “you won’t be invited into the acceptable side of DC, until you betray your base? Paraphrasing of course.

The talking turnip is promising that the Dems will make "Gun Control" a 2016 Presidential-run wedge issue. They plan to use it like they tried to use "The War On Women" in 2014.

The chances are excellent that, as they did in '14, they'll end up shooting themselves in the foot with this non-starter. Americans want guns, not talking turnips... Gabby.

Gabby, you need to push for more gun control like you need a hole in the head.

Oh, wait....

Jim Brady dies and instantly Gabby Giffords is the poster child for gun control. Good PR, another sympathetic public figure permanently injured by a psycho with a gun. But who is really pulling the strings?

Gabby and her smarmy husband need to retire on her pension from Congress (oh, you didn’t know that she waited a full year after being shot to retire? You don’t get that wonderful, taxpayer funded ‘retirement’ from Congress unless you have served 5 years......she had only served a little less then 4 years when she was shot) This country can do without their agenda now.

So let me get this straight: a ballot initiative becomes the law of the land if a deluded majority votes for it?

No bill, no debate, no final version, no bicameral legislative vote, no governor’s signature - just lots of media propaganda makes it law?

Scary......

I don't mean to be unkind, but 2014? 2015? 2016? Does she really know the difference? Ms. Giffords’ husband insists on pushing the gun control thing in her name, and she is obviously struggling to cope with life — struggling so hard that it's painful to watch.

Ex-astronaut husband needs to get a real job for a change and leave my gun alone.

When is “Commander” Mark starting his run for Senate? I’d love for them to spend 10 mil or so on that project too.

Not sure about the other states, but the way it works in NV, if “they” obtain the required number of signatures on a “proposed” ballot initiative, the upcoming 2015 legislative must address the proposal. They can decline to inact it or they can inact it. If they say yes, it would be effective 10/15/2015 (I believe). If they say “no” it would be placed on the 2016 ballots and if passed would go into effect 1/5/2017(I believe). If I’m wrong on the dates, I’m sure someone will correct me. Based on what happened in WA and the amount of money “they” spent, I’m not real confident that pro 2nd folks in NV would be too happy after 11/2016. “They” managed to obtain more than twice the number of sigs required for the petition. Heck, “they” even flew folks in from out of state to canvas neighborhoods.

I hope they will push gun control in 2016. There is no better guarantee of conservative turnout in the primaries and in the general election. Gun confiscation is unconstitutional and unpopular, and two more years of this liberal overreach may be our best hope.

Well, it wasn’t presented as “gun control” just like their gun violence messaging guide suggests. ‘It’s just a simple initiative to close the “gun show loophole” and “unfettered internet gun sales” to keep us safe. Nobody is going to take your guns away. It’s no big deal for all gun sales to have to go through an FFL.’ How this stops the bad guys and nut cases isn’t addressed. Nor is the lack of follow up and prosecution when valid denials do occur. But lend your buddy/buddette a rifle for hunting season without hoop jumping or just letting him/her handle your newest acquisition, and guess who’s goin’ down?
