That includes police departments in cities like New York, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco and St. Louis. The St. Louis County Police Department arrested black people (113.7 per 1,000 residents) at more than three times the rate of nonblacks (32.4).

"Something needs to be done about that," Ezekiel Edwards, head of the ACLU's Criminal Law Reform Project, told the paper. "In 2014, we shouldn't continue to see this kind of staggering disparity wherever we look."

The paper found one stunning example of racial disparity in Dearborn, Mich.:

More than half of the people Dearborn police arrested in 2011 and 2012 were black, according to reports they submitted to the FBI. By comparison, about 4% of the city's residents are black, as are about a quarter of the people who live in Metropolitan Detroit. Over those two years, the department reported arresting 4,500 black people — 500 more than lived in the city. As a result, the arrest rate for blacks, compared with the city's population, was 26 times higher than for people of other races.

Several years ago, my neighbor’s two high school boys, both on the basketball team, went almost everywhere with the three black team members. I’d met them all and they seemed like nice kids. One of the blacks had a nice car and the five of them rode almost everywhere together. The school they attended was the highest rated in the county. On a day when the two white boys were not along the three blacks stopped to collect a drug debt from another black. The debtor told them to f*ckoff. The team captain pulled his gun (even my neighbor’s boys carried them) and shot the debtor dead. All three of them went to prison as that’s the law in Florida. When an interviewer talked to the three black boys they all said variations of, “He dissed him, man. (Name of Captain, which I can’t recall) had to kill him.” Later I talked to my neighbor’s kids and they said the same thing. Though, these boys seemed to understand that it was an idiot view and were just trying to explain the black viewpoint. I moved at that point so I don’t know how the neighbor’s boys turned out.

This black machismo of “He dissed me and I had to kill him” is probably behind the black arrest rate.

A note on the guns. Around the turn of the century there was a round called a .38 short. It was black powder. It doesn’t exist today. But you can drop a 9 mm round into the pistol and it works just fine. But the guns were produced from pot metal and may or may not explode. A local dealer sold them for $20 each out of a 55 gallon drum so that people could take them to the $50 “gun buyback” programs and run the program out of money. The high school was flooded with these guns. It was a fad to carry one. When my neighbor showed me the guns he’d taken from his kids I went over and talked to the kids to be certain they knew how dangerous they were.

Because everything is racial for the Obama-Holder demagogues, the race-grievance industry, and most MSM employees I sure would appreciate an explanation from them; to wit,

I have these data from the FBI's new National Incident-Based Reporting System and there seems to be a huge surplus of black offenders vs. black victims.

And on the white side there is a huge surplus of white victims vs. white offenders.

And is there an explanation for the surplus of black offenders?

.. and I wonder about that dearth of white offenders and the surplus of white victims compared to the numbers of white offenders. What's that about? Who's picking up the slack?

Maybe the MSM employees can look at facts that whites are more likely to die being arrested than Black Americans. I am sure that Ferguson is on the MSM employee's mind.

The FBI and other sources of homicide by law enforcement figures below include the majority of all police departments.

The point of this reply is to point out that whites are the most likely to die while being arrested.

The Obama-Holder U.S. Dept. Just Us and the race-grievance industry will of course exploit all shootings to the max vis-a-vis race more than any concern for the poor victim.

The ARD data show that whites are more likely to die while being arrested and IMO there is no doubt that some of those deaths were the intention of the police.

But the main point is I bet that policemen don't care about race compared to protecting themselves from being killed or maimed.

And what about Ms Carey the unarmed, young black woman chased, surrounded and gunned down by federal agents in D.C.? Where's the Obama-Holder U.S. Dept. Just Us and the race-grievance industry caring about her and her baby?

"From 2003 through 2009, a total of 4,813 deaths were reported to the Bureau of Justice Statistics’ (BJS) Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) program."

Of these, about 6 in 10 deaths (2,931) were classified as homicide by law enforcement personnel, and 4 in 10 (1,882) were attributed to other manners of death.

To me this shows that it is not a racial thing. It happens to all races. These figures however do not show those thought "murdered" by police. I have not yet located data for recent years. Why can't I find data for recent years? I do not know.. maybe the Dept of Just Us and Race-Grievance Industry don't want it known that whites are the most likely to die being arrested.

It is called “disparate impact.” IF something (like laws against theft, violence, or laws enabling self defense) affects blacks more than other races then it is automatically deemed “racist.”

Did the writer ever stop to consider these “arrests” are warranted because blacks are three time more than other races, to have committed crimes?

When 80% of your city is black, then you will see a higher black arrest rate. Detroit, Chicago, Memphis, NYC, just name any large city with a high black population and you will have a high black arrest rate. Ditto goes for hispanic areas. Especially if a Dem controls those cities. Most of it is black on black crime, next target are the illegals as most don’t report a crime.

I’ve lived to close to or in Memphis for nearly 30 yrs you can’t go a night with out some black committing a crime, or killing another black, not to know how the crime goes there. All our news comes out of Memphis, and the first 15 mins is usually crime report time. Usual perp is black.

Where small bergs are more racially balanced the arrest rate is about the same for all races.

Keep in mind the sampling was just 45%, they originally committed 25,900 crimes, when placed on early release under ‘community’ supervision for parole and probation they then committed another 74,400 new crimes. That folks adds up to 100,300 old and new crimes, and many times more than that in victims. As there are multiple people affected when a child/woman is raped or a person murdered.

In Tennessee blacks serve 6 months less time than their white counterparts. If you are talking about the 11 month 29 day small felony Penal Farm in Memphis they serve up to 90 days, just long enough to get a health need taken care of or ‘winter over’ Recidivism is 85%. Most have 30-60 felonies each on their records. And tie up multiple court rooms, judges and AG/Public Defenders each year until they are sentenced and incarcerated, they continue to commit those break and enter jobs, rob small stores, purse snatch, etc. They may or may not get caught doing while out on bail.

Any sane white person has fled the city unless they live in a gated community, or now mandated to live there if they work for the government. We did last year. I finally ‘nagged’ enough, that he was to old at 72 to be on the roof of a 2 story house, and I was scared to death of the crime. Our car was broken into, we had a man killed a few blocks away. Several cars were broken into at the same time by the same gang on a single night. Crime is very MOBILE.

When there is no father in the house, the odds of a kid being arrested/delinquent/in jail are three times higher than one raised with Dad.
The illegitimacy rate for blacks is around 80%, two and a half times higher than for whites.
So the arrest rate for black kids on average is 2-3 times that of whites.
If they married the baby daddies, they’d have lower crime rates.
It is demographics, not race.
