It is still far too early to call a turn in the long-term trend of initial jobless claims but this is the 5th week that new lows have not been made, 4th miss in a row, and (despite last week's upward revision) claims sit at 2-month highs. Initial claims printed 291k (against 284k expectations) down very slightly from an upwardly revised 293k last week. However, continuing claims continue to tumble to fresh cycle lows at 2.33 million (below expectations and well down from last week's jump).

It was really interesting that the day they announced the new unemployment figures pointing that this was a sign of 100% full employment, Target announced it was closing 12 stores. How odd? How an this be?

Well, if one is going to arbitrarily eliminate almost 100 million working age Americans without jobs from the definition of "unemployed" I gues you can get to whatever unemployment numbers you want.

I guess you can always have ‘full employment’ if the total workforce figure is flexible.

Does the “continuing claims” number falling reflect people who are giving up even looking for work? I suspect that it does.

RE: . Initial claims printed 291k (against 284k expectations) down very slightly from an upwardly revised 293k last week.

It was reported to be 290,000 last week, which means they’ve revised it UPWARDS again (by 3,000 ). I’ve never seen a downward revision during these 5 years I’ve been looking at this jobless claims number.

It’s fun with Thursday jobs numbers once again.

It’s numbers for the Grubers Thursday.

Even though you know it’s all a lie you’re supposed to be just too stupid to care.

This comes at a time when Obama wants to flood the markets with cheap labor.

Surely, 10,000,000 Criminaliens will bring with them at least 10,000,000 new jobs.

Yes, the MSM can’t really report economic news truthfully on the day the president announces his amnesty decree, can they.

Hey let’s remove another 10,000,000 able adults from the work force “number”. Get unsmployment to negative 3 percent and then we can say we need 10,000,000 more illegals to bolster the work force. That’s the ticket!

When it all comes crashing down the Obama WH will direct his Grubers in the MSM to blame the republican takeover.

That happens when people have been out of work so long they are dying of old age.

Another part of the Obama plan to turn the O'conomy statistics around.

And it's not just fancy Target, banks are closing branches, unless of course it's Chase who seem to be the Walgreen's of banks, Sears and all sorts of other businesses are going belly up across the country. Thank goodness we are getting all the Americans cluttering up the labor market off the employment rolls to make room for all of Lord Fouls beloved illegals! I'm sure good old Jeb will be all over the news telling us what an awesome act of love all this is.

We have a record amount of US citizens out of work and have given up and records of people on food stamps and disability, yet these liars are telling us all is good?
