“That’s why I have four electrical power generators. Gasoline and propane.”

Fuels will dry up overnight when SHTF. How much gas do you have stored at this very moment?

If money isn’t an issue it would be crazy not to have a generator, if nothing else it gives you a couple of weeks or much more of electricity, to adjust to a new situation and charge batteries, manage a well stocked freezer and convert the food into canned, and all kinds of things even working out trades with neighbors where you split their food for your cold storage and let them charge phones and such.

On the other hand, preparing at a more basic level and not counting on such luxuries is not without it’s merits, and can certainly be adequate.

Twenty five of the 20 pound propane tanks (bought at yard sales and refilled myself) and about 50 gallons of regular gasoline. I have additional empty storage space for gasoline when necessary.

FYI, One twenty pound propane tank is reported to be able to provide 30 days of cooking for a family of four....

FEMA put out a little booklet on how to build a wood-gas generator. It's important to practice that skill. Really important. So is a fire extinguisher.

I've run an internal combustion engine with a wood gas generator.
