Immigration enforcement is the perview of congress, per the constitution. The president has no executive power in this area.

But if he is going to go ahead and act like he does, why shouldn't Republican governors do the same? Whats good for the goose(stepper) is good for the gander.

Immigration enforcement is the perview of congress, per the constitution. The president has no executive power in this area.

One political caveat to this thought. The Congress has authority over immigration, but the State Department has power over visas. This is where BHO's grey area rests. He can authorize the DOS to authorize worker visas en masse, which is what I believe he has done. This may be why some argue that his actions are legal. IMHO, the illegality is in authorizing a visa for those that have broken law, which he does not have the authority to do.

Constitutional crisis on the horizon.

And that's the problem — this isn't in immigration issue, it's an invasion issue.

What of DHS underlings who implement an order they know is in violation of the law?

“I was just following orders.”

This is how the people get used to authoritarian government.

For rjsimmon, whatever power SecState has, comes from congress.
