Lanza's mental issues went untreated by officials who allowed SH shooter's mother to overpower them
Daily Mail UK ^

Adam Lanza had always been a child in need of help.

At age 3, he was referred to special education after he began to exhibit oddly repetitive behaviors and couldn't socialize like most kids.

By fourth grade, he had been diagnosed with anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and autism.

Yet year after year — as psychiatrists insisted that Lanza should be on treatment and strict medication — his mother Nancy refused to follow through on the requests.

She chalked up her son's behavior to a presumed superior intelligence, seeing him as a gifted student, despite testing done by experts showing he presented average intelligence.

But, as the years went on, the truth became clearer: Adam Lanza was a deeply troubled young man who obsessed over mass killings as he fell deeper into a pit of mental illness while his mother ignored his struggles

These are the findings of a new report by the Office of the Child Advocate in Connecticut, which released on Friday a 114-page dossier about the life of the shooter who massacred 20 children and six adult staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown on December 14, 2012.

The report charges that the local school system enabled Nancy Lanza as she accommodated and appeased her son — even as he became more withdrawn socially and exhibited frightening signs of his obsession with murder.

The Office of the Child Advocate says there were missed opportunities to provide more treatment for Lanza.

...

The report adds: 'There were early indications of AL’s preoccupation with violence, depicted by extremely graphic writings that appeared to have been largely unaddressed by schools and possibly by parents.'

The kid belonged in a mental institute period.

Since the age of 3yr's psychiatrists insisted that Lanza should be on treatment and strict medication — his mother Nancy refused to follow through throughout his years...rather used Scientology recommendations of accamodating and appeasing....so the mom was equally brainwashed and nuts.

Here's the Mom displaying 'Scientology Pamphlets"....which would account for her constant refusal to treat her son as Scientolgy is strickly oppossed to Psychological treatment and the drugs used.......and they actually "school" against it.

Exactly, I’ve been through this with one of my kids. If these so called “professionals” had had their way he would have been drugged into oblivion for 12 years! Instead, I said not no but hell no and he became a college grad and has excelled in everything he has done. That (drug em!)is basically what public school “professionals” want to do.

I don’t know the facts surrounding Lanza’s mother’s decisions. But, not swallowing whole hog what a bunch of liberals at some Connecticut State Agency put in a 114 page “report” probably was the thing to do.

All this is is a buildup for liberals to try and have more and more control over kids lives including a back door gun control scheme. More Nanny State BS.

Having a checkbook dad probably did more damage to the kid than anything else. My deceased brother-in-law was a check book dad. But, in his case, he was married to my sister and understandably just wanted no more contact with her. The son, now late thirties, has never hit a lick in life.

Mommy should have taken the hard steps to have him committed...

Under the sad state of mental health care in our country that probably would have resulted in Lanza spending a couple of weeks in a hospital and then being set loose with a prescription or two. It is a little late now to speculate whether or not that would have prevented Lanza's crimes.

Of course the "officials" are ready to blame Lanza's mother, but even if she had brought him to them their treatment may or may not have prevented the crimes. But you can be sure if they had treated him they wouldn't be accepting blame for his actions. For examples of this you don't have to look too hard. See, for instance the stories of James Holmes, Jared Lee Loughner, or Seung-Hui Cho, all of whom apparently were known to mental health professionals and, presumably being "treated" prior to their crimes.

The dad bugged out because as usual didn’t go along with his fruitcase wife’s involvement with ‘Scientology’....which ‘always’ breaks up families....and why she refused her son the treatment he needed.

It does matter what you believe in...and ‘her beliefs’ created a firestorm which caused a breakup of their family....a son going without treatment or a father ...and the death of herself, 20 innocent school kids and 6 teachers before he put the gun to his own head. Not to mention the grief of all the family members and the community.

It’s easy for them to say this now, and perhaps it is even true.

But the more frequent scenario is families trying to move heaven and earth to get their mentally ill relative help and getting NONE.

Do you disbelieve Adam Lanza was a real person?

So it’s the fault of the judicial system, because they refused to allow the father a role in his son’s life.

Nancy Lanza as she accommodated and appeased her son

This is an aside funny story. Once I had my best friend and her two year old son over for lunch. My son was three.
My friend’s son did not like his apple juice so we switched to orange juice. Out of the blue, he says “Mom, don’t try to appease me.” I laughed so hard, I fell out of my chair. What two year old uses the word “appease” in context? It was a sign of what was to come with that child.

Sounds a lot like Radical Muslims, Regular folks who see the danger and the Mother Government who refuses to admit there is anything wrong.

No, the mother wasn’t a teacher.

“Apparently his GE executive father who bugged out of the situation has no responsibility at all.”

Sometimes you have to save yourself. Can you imagine lying in bed at night wondering if this was the night precious ‘junior’ was going to kill you in your sleep?

Lanza was bats**t crazy and I do blame the mom & dad for not doing something (and giving the kid a gun was a really bad idea).

But

Connecticut pushes drugging kids so they can fit the mold better. I know. I have a child who wasn’t considered “normal” by the Connecticut school system. They started pushing drugs in elementary school. I absolutely refused.

Once the kid started High school, we had no further problems. I knew this was a case of maturity - other kids needed to catch up to him.

Had numerous problems with the school system with the 3 older brother as well. Connecticut has forgotten how to educate boys.

I have a question : IS there a psychiatrist or a mental health ‘professional’ left in this country who will CALL someone dangerously insane and officially recommend institutionalization? I doubt it. PC has everything as ‘ok’, no one is broken, no one is deviant-it’s all good. How many of the PC psychiatrists themselves are screwy? If your child is diagnosed with a life threatening disease-and you refuse to get the help doctors say he needs- are you not open for ‘child endangerment/neglect’ charges? So,if a head doctor says your child is homicidal and dangerous to himself and others and you do nothing-should you not be charged? That is assuming a ‘doctor’ considers anything true insanity and has the guts to give a firm diagnosis.
The parents of this evil spawn ARE responsible for not facing what he was and not decisively dealing with him to protect others. Money wasn’t a factor-denial of reality was.
The ‘professionals’ who let it go KNOWING how bad he was are guilty of neglect as well. They -and the father, and the family estate-should be sued by all those who lost loved ones to that monster.

I read a good book on the subject of this last year:

http://www.amazon.com/My-Brother-Ron-Personal-Deinstitutionalization-ebook/dp/B008E0LRQE#_

In most states it's damn near impossible to get someone institutionalized even if you want to.

Speaking for myself about myself, DIVORCE has long term effects on kids. Both mine turned out well. One is a CPA and another is successful in real estate. But, a “single mom” is not a substitute for an intact bio family. Anything less is not good no matter what liberals would have you believe. I wish God had interfered and stopped my two divorces. But, it seemed back then that no power on earth could stop it. We were lucky and tried real hard and I was involved (by court order) as much as mom with both kids. That made the difference. I feel sorry for the Lanza’s.

Probably one of the reasons the parents split up. I think the mom was a bit looney herself.
