On Friday, the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) reported to several Congressional committees that many of the allegedly missing emails to and from former IRS official Lois Lerner have been recovered.
Lois Lerner remains at the heart of the IRS scandal for her having overseen the IRS tax-exempt division that designated nonprofit statuses. Between the approximate years of 2010 to 2013, Lerners division harassed and suppressed the political activities of blossoming Tea Party and conservative nonprofit groups that sought to make a difference. The IRS spent years denying nonprofit statuses for conservative nonprofits while allowing left-leaning nonprofits no such scrutiny.
The IRS made continued requests in their investigations of Tea Party groups by asking for membership rosters, emails, copies of social media postings and making chilling requests such as demanding to know who were members, what was discussed at meetings, what kind of reading material was common amongst members and other intrusive measures to ascertain and obstruct the nature of nonprofit activity.
Lerner had been embroiled in controversy as Congressional investigators have sought emails sent within these years. However, Lerner maintained that she suffered a computer crash and that the missing emails were irretrievable.
While government officials have maintained that Lerners harddrive with the emails was irretrievable, they also soon revealed that they had misplaced the harddrive, thus prohibiting outside technicians to try and recover the emails.
Earlier this month, the IRS admitted
A Congressional aide revealed on Friday, however, that the Inspector Generals Office has recovered up to 30,000 emails on disaster recovery tapes maintained by the IRS.
They just said it took them several weeks and some forensic effort to get these emails off these tapes, a congressional revealed to the Washington Examiner.
It is not yet known what is in the emails as it may take several weeks of continued searching to recover all data from the voluminous amount of disaster recovery tapes.
Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, who has vigorously pursued the truth behind the IRS scandal, stated:
Though it is unclear whether TIGTA has found all of the missing Lois Lerner e-mails, there may be significant information in this discovery. The Oversight Committee will be looking for information about her mindset and who she was communicating with outside the IRS during a critical period of time when the IRS was targeting conservative groups. This discovery also underscores the lack of cooperation Congress has received from the IRS. The agency first failed to disclose the loss to Congress and then tried to declare Lerners e-mails gone and lost forever. Once again it appears the IRS hasnt been straight with Congress and the American people.
IRS FY2014 total budget was $12 billion and as punishment they got it cut by *$1 billion*:
12 billion all the way down to 11 billion.
Why not simply cut in IN HALF..?
Or scrub all the charges completely and give them nothing?
Doctored or just remove the incriminating ones.
I heard they found these files on Hillary’s end table.
Border Patrol and DHS did nothing wrong, really, and already they’re being told to basically NOT do their jobs:
The IRS went egregiously out of bounds and yet they CONTINUE to do their jobs and their mission is unaltered...?
Could be legit. As I recall, the IG at the IRS has been helpful to the Committee. Lerner and her superiors actively blocked his investigations, too.
Is Craig Livingstone an archivist at the Clinton Presidential Library?
At a minimum the “authorities” should yank this LIB losers $100,000+ pension. This criminal needs chains to take the smug look off her dried-up mug.
Many career politicians get where they get by mastering the art of the lie as well as they can. In doing so, somehow their arrogance level rises to compensate for knowing deep inside that everything they’re saying and doing is not true, not real.
Such arrogance as displayed by Lois Lerner and many other current Administration bigwigs can cause them to lose ability to discern what is factual and what they’ve made up.
Hence, “My emails accidentally were erased off my computer.”
“Gee, I coulda sworn a lot of us techie types on FreeRepublic said that her emails could NOT have just been on her computer and had to be backed up on servers and also on tape somewhere. Whod a thunk we were right. . . as we usually are!”
Yes. I have said for a long time that “Email is Forever”
Never put in email what you do not want published.
The idea that all these emails could magically be “lost” was laughable.
Redbox sent her the code for a free one?
“Probably a staged event orchestrated by the Administration ... “
This administration has made a lot of enemies. People in bureaucracies have long memories. It is not hard to believe that this would surface when they think they have some backup in the Congress.
There are a lot of patriots in the Federal bureaucracies.
I know. I worked with many for 30 years.

I always hoped Snowden would produce them...
A squirrel a day keeps conservatives at bay.
not true - referring to ‘had to be backed up...’ - not that people did not say it
“that many of the allegedly missing emails”
Yep. The qualifier “many” gives pause; why wouldn’t all her e-mails from the same period be on the same set of tapes?. Congressional investigators AND Judicial Watch need access to the tapes and every e-mail immediately, not after they have been vacuumed.
“...had to be backed up on servers and also on tape somewhere.’
not true
I wonder if Lois new Vince Foster. They may suffer the same fate.
