I always wondered why people slowed down at the Florence and Normandy intersection.

They didn't hear my parents' advice of "Remember, a car is also a deadly weapon."

Although it was preferable to get out of town at the first signs of rioting which they actually did in 1965 at the start of the Watts Riots.
