I Understand these three are up for the position...

Michèle Flournoy, a former under secretary of defense

Sen. Jack Reed, Dem. of R. Island, a former officer with the Army’s 82nd Airborne

Ashton B. Carter, a former deputy secretary of defense.

..."FoxNews commentaries conclude that Hagel is being forced out."....

The buzz is make no mistake Hagel was fired....Doesn't surprise me in the least...he was a bad choice to begin with and should not even have been considered.

Does anyone know who the acting SecDef would be?

It should be the DepSecDef.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert O. Work, a 27 year Career Marine Corps Officer, who served on Obama’s Transition Team and in the CNAS think tank, but otherwise seems like he was raised like a regular Military officer rather than a political apparatchik (see Michele Flournoy).

No matter the cost, every time a traitorous creep gets some semblance of justice is a good day.

Time to refuse to accept a successor until Obama rescinds his Shamnety executive actions.

It will just be one incompetent replacing another anyway.

If you are correct (and I have no reason to doubt you), I hope details emerge. :)

“Good riddance to the coward and traitor.”

I wonder if he’ll have something negative to say about George W. Bush. It was the only thing he could be counted on to do.

OK but the reason he is leaving is that he is not enough of a coward and a traitor to satisfy obastard.

HAGEL: THE WORLD IS ‘DAMN DANGEROUS’ AND OUR ARMY IS NOT READY

That's how I see it. Hagel saw the dangers to the US and tried to act. Obama saw the dangers to the enemies of the US and tried to hinder.

...he was a bad choice to begin with and should not even have been considered.

That was why he was chosen. Hagel’s view of America was closest to Obama (so thought Obama) but obviously not close enough. Hagel recognized dangers to the US and tried to defend. Obama sees the dangers and then aids the enemies.

Gates and Panetta were infinitely better Secretaries than "Hungover Hagel." After his disasterous confirmation hearing, I was shocked he was voted in. Even Democrats knew he was a disaster.

He has been the worst SECDEF in history, and that is saying something. Robert Strange McNamara and Louis A. Johnson pretty horrible. Hagel was not up to the job, that was clear. But he also knew he was brought in to dismantel the Pentagon, because that is what Obama wanted.

Hagel knew Sequestration devastated the military even further, forcing it to endure 50% of all Federal spending cuts over ten years, and these massive cuts came on top of two previous massive cuts by Obama in 2009 and 2012.

Panetta was all over the Sunday shows and in front of the media during his last weeks in office, defending our men and women in uniform and the department.

Hagel didn't give a damn.

His first speech before uniformed military and military professionals at the National Defense University as SECDEF was so bad that I was cringing.
