Earlier this afternoon I had an appointment up in Creve Coeur in St. Louis County, and on the way back home to south St. Louis County, I passed near Clayton. I had some paperwork to fill out and then drop off at an office in downtown Clayton, so I stopped at the county library in Clayton to fill out those forms. The library was closed. So I sat in the car in the parking lot and did the paperwork. Then I walked over to the office building, the Clayton Towers, a couple blocks away. The office building was closed. I called the office—got a recording. I waited till someone walked out the door of the building and then walked in. Office is on the third floor. Door is locked. I knock on the door. Fortunately, someone comes to the door, and I drop off the paperwork. So the trip to Clayton was not wasted.
Normally, downtown Clayton is a hustling, bustling place, full of activity. Today it was like a ghost town. On my walk, though, I did see lots of TV satellite trucks. All the networks are here. I saw orange barricades over by the county government building. Everyone is bracing for the reaction to the grand jury announcement, coming up shortly. It’s nice and cold and windy in St. Louis today, so I hope any rioters, vandals, and looters have an unpleasant time.
We have schools here in FLORIDA that closed early today. I was shocked ..but there’s tension everywhere.
Stay safe.
