The national guard are unarmed - many of them are standing guard in other areas of St. Louis. The looters are not just in Ferguson. They have scattered into smaller groups. They are driving around hitting businesses.
It was reported earlier today, before “no indictment” was released, that Gov. Nixon put the Guard in surrounding communities, but NOT in Ferguson. I don’t know whether that report was correct or not, but its worth keeping in mind as this plays out.
