I am not shocked in the slightest, and imagine something similar could happen in the US.
Currently the Just Us Department has an ongoing scheme called Operation Choke Point. They lean on banks to deny loans or to even have accounts for those the administration (Democrats) do not approve of, including many legal and legitimate businesses.

Imagine if Tea Party, conservative organizations, news organizations critical of the administration, Democrats or liberals, were attacked this way? Is it any different than their using the IRS to target and harass these groups, like they currently do?
No doubt the current French socialist government has been using all sorts of means to lean on the banks to deny the National Front the money it needs to fight the socialists.
Do you think that Obama, Holder, Hillary, et al. would hesitate for a second to do that?
Yeah, Chokepoint was the first thing that came to mind. Speaking of which, the left’s complete silence on Chokepoint is perhaps the most glaring of their countless incidents of hypocrisy in the face of Obama’s depredations. Imagining how apoplectic they would have been had Bush engaged in similar extralegal assaults on disfavored entities always makes me smile.
