The Next Amnesty
The Atlantic ^ | November 26, 2014 | David Frum

Posted on 11/26/2014 10:09:43 AM PST by reaganaut1

President Obama’s executive action last week is only an interim step. More amnesty is coming, much more. It must.

More amnesty is coming, first, because the president’s action creates an unsustainable status quo. Millions of people are about to obtain work permits and Social Security numbers—but not (or so the president says) any right to health coverage or other social benefits. What happens if they get sick? What if they lose their jobs? Suffer a debilitating injury at work? According to Obama, these people are “as American as Sasha and Malia” except for the small technical complication of lacking “the right papers.” The president denounced as “cruel” the expectation that illegal aliens return to their native countries. If these people are to stay here, though, how is it not also “cruel” to deny them the same protections enjoyed by other Americans? Almost six in 10 illegal-immigrant adults had no health insurance in 2007. Is it really plausible that they will passively accept this status quo after they regain residency rights? Almost as soon as the working papers are issued, expect a new round of demands for a second action—one that will enroll the newly documented aliens in social programs.

Obama’s disavowal of social benefits for the newly legalized will not long remain Democratic Party policy. The precedent is President Clinton’s tactical maneuvering on his children’s-health program, SCHIP, back in the 1990s. To gain Republican assent to the program, Clinton agreed that it would exclude new immigrants, people who had lived in the United States for less than five years. Having made the agreement, Democrats almost immediately chafed against it. As a senator, Hillary Clinton sponsored legislation to make all immigrants eligible for SCHIP.

This of course was always part of the plan. They will have ACLU and NAACP lawyers at the ready to plead in court for the POOR citizens without the rights of other people living in this greatest nation made up of IMMIGRANTS. A sympathetic Marxist judge will agree and throw in the right to vote on top of the pile as a little additional sweetener. Bet on it.

You're right. Sasha and Malia's illegal alien father also lacks the "right papers" such as a

birth certificate.

Agree.

Frum’s points should have been completely obvious to anyone concerned about this issue.

But, not one member of the recently re-elected GOP political leadership has even mentioned these facts.

Which means the GOP has no serious plan to stop Obama, probably because most of our leadership supports Amnesty.

For once I agree with Obama. The illegals who came here in violation of the law and stole other people's identities, and their children, are not in any way American. The illegal in our White House is also in no way culturally American and has presented no evidence that he is the same baby allegedly born in Hawaii five decades ago. Sounds equal to me.

Obama's own words on what he is doing convict him:

OBAMA'S OWN WORDS ON IMMIGRATION

And those words should be used to do precisely that.

Impeach, convict, and remove.

Anyone seen any papers of who were the parents or where they were whelped? I'm begining to wonder if they're the natural offspring of hussein and the wookie.

es, more Amnesty is coming and I suspect in time for the 2016 election Citizenship is coming, also by EO in time for the election. When he has gotten away with several grants and upgrades of the initial Amnesty, he will free to decree citizenship and many more things.

I never understand the liberal logic.

Because we have a history of being a nation of immigrants, that means we have to be liberal about illegal aliens?

Because our legal immigration process over 100 years ago allowed huge numbers of immigrants to enter our country then, that means we are not allowed to control who comes into this country today???

Correct. This is an existential move against the object of Obama’s deepest hatred: the USA.

What's the complaint?

Those illegal aliens are as American as Barack Obama himself.

Welcome to the well-known “Camel’s Nose”. There is never an end to “doing good” when it is other people’s (taxpayer) money that is being spent. Heritage Foundation quoted Obama’s Amnesty at $2 Trillion over 50 years ($40 Billion / yr) when it took the National Deficit 232 years to get to $13T. This of course does not count whomever else gets in for this prize NOR for this article’s point of their future benefits!

They’ll call on the black robed oligarchy. They will get the courts to rule that it is unequal access or some other such nonsense. The plan is to take it to the point where the courts can carry them across the finish line. Then no one will argue it’s not legal when the courts are the ones providing benefits.
