He also added that had it been available when he confronted Michael Brown, it would be additional evidence in his favor.
Our police officers have been begging for these.
They gloss over the fact Michael Brown was a thug.
And Darren Wilson is still the good guy standing.
An amusing side effect is that this will actually cut way down on lawsuit lottos and rabble rousing after shootings - it already has in places car and body cams are already being issued.
Except in Los Angeles, where the cops keep disabling the cameras.
The One Battle Michael Browns Family Will Win
If making Michael Brown look like a thug makes them a winner, sure.
We saw one other video of Michael that day. He was a thug.
And his momma said..."He's 18...we all did silly things when we were 18".
These people are rotten to the core...
Body cameras won’t put al, and jessie out of work but it should help.
Kind of what I was thinking too. Geez. What if he did have a body camera on during the altercation and it proved that he did exactly what he said and the incident was as described. Oh, CGI’d to make it look like mb was the bad guy. There would still be some BS excuse as to why it wasn’t what it was.
I don't believe this for a minute. They WANT to complain and riot so they can steal, get money and concessions and be panderer to. IOW they want to remain relevant in a society that does not really need them.
Isn’t it possible that cameras will not see everything?
Is the cop going to wear the camera lens on a lapel of a shirt, for example? If it’s pointing outward from there, but somebody comes at you from the side to grab your gun, as happened in this case, would the camera even see that part of the incident?
I think that, even if there were cameras, these liberals and race baiters would still find something to bitch about. For example, the story which came out that Brown was charging Wilson when the fatal shots were fired. If this were on video, the liberals would still bitch that Wilson should have run away or stepped aside to keep from being tackled and mauled. They still would have questioned him being shot.
And, as I mentioned, depending on camera angles and clarity of the video, liberals and race baiters would still find something in these encounters which they believe was racist.
I am not stating a hope or projecting wishful thinking. It is demonstrable fact that cameras *have* cut down on municipal settlements and rioting over police conduct in most jurisdictions that they have been introduced in. It’s so demonstrable that municipal insurance companies are offering discounts for governments that install them.
It is possible for the camera not to catch something - but then how are you worse off? If nothing else, the audio record will still likely be there, discrediting ‘witnesses’ that ‘heard’ the officer utter racial slurs.
In my own city of Dallas, there have been similar shootings but when the rabble rousers get started, the video gets released to the news media and everyone calms down.
Yes, it will curb the abusive behavior by a handful of rogue cops. But, that's not why I support it.
It will end the repeated attempts by people that think they can get attention or money with bogus complaints.
This is what has happened every time a department has deployed cameras.
There’s certainly an upside.
Downside is that the activists and liberals will become judge and jury according to how they interpret the scene. What do they think cop could have done to keep perp from kicking the crap out of him?
Exactly. A single football plays has 50 HD cameras on it, and people STILL argue what really happened.
It is possible for the camera not to catch something - but then how are you worse off?
I was just trying to say that if the video wasn’t clear, the video didn’t have a good camera angle, the camera was shaking, or things happened off camera, that people would still complain.
Somebody I know in law enforcement told me that they got body cameras in their department - and now the creeps have changed their tune and are howling that cameras are unfair! The cameras film the whole thing, of course, and in several cases, have caught other illegal activities going on in the background, not only exonerating the officer, but leading to more charges for the creeps. Too funny.
Good point about sports. People argue all the time about disputed plays in sports, and you can get different interpretations of a play, depending on the camera angle you were seeing.
