The New GOP Showdown Threat (Will NOT Impeach Obama)
New York Times ^ | November 27, 2014

Posted on 11/28/2014 6:45:01 AM PST by Din Maker

Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama announced that Republicans had decided not to impeach President Obama over his plan to allow millions of immigrants to remain in this country without fear of deportation through his executive authority. But that concession is not the end of the matter. He is planning much more serious mischief: using Congress’s power of the purse to pressure the White House into backing off.

Condemning the immigration action as “unlawful,” Mr. Sessions says he and other Republicans may filibuster any attempt to pay for government operations through the full fiscal year, which ends Oct. 1. Instead, he wants to pay for government through a series of short-term bills, possibly month to month, with each one trying to overturn Mr. Obama’s actions.

That raises the possibility of a budget shutdown fight every month for nearly a year. And Mr. Sessions’ voice will count in that fight — he is in line to be the new chairman of the Budget Committee.

Some Republican leaders, including the next majority leader, Senator Mitch McConnell, have tried to take a loftier position, saying they want a full year’s spending bill to avert a widespread shutdown. Nonetheless, they are seriously considering using short-term bills to pay for immigration enforcement. That approach is an implicit and reckless threat to close down immigration agencies to prevent them from issuing work permits to immigrants.

In the House, Speaker John Boehner has refused to rule out the possibility of threatening either a narrow or a full-scale shutdown to get Mr. Obama to back off his plans.

What these Republicans in congress fail to recognize is that their is no other move.................By allowing the Executive to break the law...... and TRUMP the Legislative Branch..... Anything they do.... CAN BE TRUMPED!

Exactly right.

Draw up articles of impeachment now.

Has the Executive Order been signed? Last account it had NOT.

You are barking up the wrong tree.

You need to understand that Obama doesn't use Executive Orders.

He changed ACA 24 times without using an executive order.

Obama writes what he calls Executive Actions and he sends them off to his agencies.

EXACTLY! Obama, the Dims, and the LSM want impeachment so bad you can almost see the foam of their saliva as they think about the GOP going after their Dear Leader, and thus making HIM the focus of the news for the next year.

As I've said before, Obama would LOVE to see us throw him in that briar patch! It would elevate him to the status of a martyr--and thus a hero of the progressive movement, whose mantra is "it's all abut ME!!!!"

Any one who claims there: “THERE IS NO CHOICE.” does not understand the situation.

We are either a country of laws or we are not Duke. It's just that simple.

You can use all the smoke and mirrors you want... to make excuses for why Republican Leadership is behaving like collaborators and Traitors to the Supreme Law of the Land, The U.S. Constitution, instead of like a real oppositions party.

Nevertheless, it does not change the facts. One man cannot be above the law. That's why we have 3 Branches of government. It is called checks and balances.

One man, the President, CANNOT BREAK LAWS by Executive Action.

Ignoring it, sticking your head in the sand, will not work.

If you allow this, then you allow all future laws to be broken by one man.

Oh and we WILL HAVE a dictatorship.

It has been in place since 1787.

“It has been in place since 1787. “

Meaning the U.S. Constituion, and not a dictatorship.

Again ONE MAN can change laws.

Sorry it does not work that way.

No reason not to do both except that most likely Conservative Republicans like Sessions, Cruz, Lee, etc. can’t get support from Rino Republicans such as alexander, cochran, wicker, etc. to impeach. Probably won’t get enough support to do anything.

"The GOP is dead, despite the fact that America hates liberals. Stick a fork in ‘em."

=====================================================

I've been saying exactly that from the moment Mitt won the primary.

"We would NEVER get 67 Votes in the Senate to convict, so, we have to resort to other measures."

I'm in favor of using each and every measure, means, and constitutional action in the book, with afterburners, continuously against Traitorobama or any other Demonicrat, until a Republican president takes office. This would include disinviting Traitorobama from presenting his SOTU excrement before a joint Congress.

However, unless the oath taken by each member of Congress is to be regarded as worthless as Traitorobama's oath, the House is duty-bound before God to impeach Traitorobama, and the Senate is duty-bound before God to recognized the facts of the articles of impeachment and convict Traitorobama.

If the members of the Senate shame themselves by sodomizing their oaths, that does not provide a valid excuse for the members of the House to likewise shame themselves.

The Republican leadership are acting like adults and have made an assessment that impeaching Obama would accomplish nothing except to brand the republican party as the party of racists who impeached the First Black President.

Until you can name 13 democrat senators willing to commit political suicide by removing the First Black President, you are wasting everyone’s time.

Obama is acting like a matador using amnesty as his cape. Why do you want to be his bull?

I am for any and all action(s) to get Obama out of office and into a court of justice as soon as such can be done. There is much more than just Obama involved in this situation. Questions such as ‘ What is in the documents that Obama had sealed?, How could and why did Pelosi skew the nominating votes for Obama?, Is Valerie Jarrett the real/true voice of Obama’s actions? The fabric of our Constitution apparently needs attention and perhaps restored to the days of It’s adoption. In my long/many years of life I have come to believe there is no better time to mend/cure a wrong than at its beginning and to propagate a wrong by wishful meandering just buries the wrong from sight and perhaps memory. What Obama and his cabal have done and are doing to the US needs immediate action of remediation.

At least it’s a 2/3 majority, not a simple majority. I feel the simple majority should be stricken from the Senate rules, as well as voting “present” in both houses. It should only be a yes or no vote.
