Immediately, the liberal politicians and their sock puppets in the Old Media claimed that the incident happened because there are too many millions of gun owners in America. According to them, Sandy Hook would never have happened if gun ownership were severely restricted. The Old Media's hysterical propaganda surrounding Sandy Hook was intended to to invoke a sense of guilt, shame and remorse in America's gun owners, so that they would readily agree to draconian new gun laws "to protect the children".
But it didn't work. In fact, it backfired spectacularly.
Millions of legal gun owners were outraged that the Old Media would blame them collectively for the actions of one madman. Conspiracy theorists called it a "false flag" operation perpetrated by the government, using a heavily medicated patsy who had lost touch with reality long ago. Sales of firearms and ammunition skyrocketed. The public, fearful of an imminent executive order gun-grab, went out and panic-bought as much heat & ammo as they could afford. Gun-grabbing politicians were booted out of office in recall elections, and the term "false flag" became an everyday part of the American vocabulary.
And Obama, desperate to advance his anti-gun agenda, tried to dupe the public into thinking that he was pro-Second Amendment. Instead he made a complete fool of himself. He posed for a fake skeet-shooting photo, awkwardly clutching an expensive shotgun in a way that showed the whole world that he had never touched a firearm in his life. When the photo went viral, he became an internet laughingstock and the butt of a thousand visual cyber-jokes. The Old Media frantically tried to debunk what everybody had seen with their own eyes, and in doing so they made themselves look desperate and foolish. A wave of public ridicule shamed them into silence on the issue.
Looking back on that tumultuous time, we now realize that is was the worst assault on the Second Amendment since the Kennedy assassination. But this time we beat them back. And we will continue to beat them back every time The Left tries to pull this stunt. Because even the most inattentive Americans could see it for what it was: a shameful attempt to exploit a horrible tragedy for the sake of political power. And We The People refused to tolerate it. Molon Labe.
(By the way, THERE AIN'T NO LINK. This is me ranting.)
Long term results? .22 Long Rifle is scarce and quadruple price when available...
But we don’t have to look at it. It was a crazy freak circus that made no sense.
Liberal hoplophobes fear guns.
Has Sandy Hook changed America’s love affair with guns?
Not by a long shot if this Black Friday’s gun sales are any indication.
There’s enough questionable material for me to not be that concerned ... I’d forgotten about it ... as I’ll guess a LOT of people have.
There was no Sandy Hook massacre. At least not going by the “official” story.
I will go to my grave believing we were lied to on a grand scale regarding Sandy Hook.
One thing I know has not resulted is absolutely nothing has been done to tighten up screening for the kind of serious mental illness this kid had or to see to it people are actually treated.
The 40th anniversary of Bill Ayers bombing the Pentagon passed without ANY media coverage. Of course it did happen to be during the 2012 election cycle...
The real discussion should never have been targeted at guns. It should have been targeted at the mental health system.
The mental health system was destroyed in the 70s and 80s. Crazy folks were let out to walk the streets. Parents were not equipped to handle them. So they were drugged up and sent out to deal with the world.
I’ll lay off the “it didn’t happen” argument, but I will say that the two fallouts that I’ve seen are the price of ammo skyrocket, and the country become MUCH MORE POLARIZED between states that support gun rights, and those that don’t...to the point where anti-gun states are going to start paying A LARGE economic price for their stance, as no one from Connecticut would hesitate to move to Texas because of their gun rights policies, but Texans who own guns (i.e., 98% of us) will think LONG AND HARD before surrendering them so that they can move to Connecticut.
MORON LABEL indeed. Great rant!
