A few bucks in the long run isn’t better than thousands of people spending more in the consumer market. I work in the oil sector, this won’t affect me, but to those that do, it will affect a lot of people so someone can save a few cents a gallon. You’re not seeing the big picture.
As a side note, I think Saudi Arabia is attempting to break the west.

Right now people are saving much more than just a few cents per gallon. Prices not long ago were $3.69 per gallon...now it’s $2.49/gal.
This drop is helping millions of people across the country, not just thousands. That is the big picture for me. As for the politics of it all, maybe Putin is the real target? Or possibly just the West as you said. Lots of differing opinions out there discussing it.
