He was not cooperating in any way shape or form. He started teeing off on the officers that approached him. They may have only sited him if he had complied. He alluded to them harassing him. Turns out he was in trouble eight other times (from what other posters have said).

What do you do with a guy like that? He had already been given a number of chances to clean up his act.

You start letting him sell cigarettes unregulated, what happens next? Then others do the same thing. Pretty soon it’s all over town that folks can sell cigarettes on the street with impunity.

Is that how things are supposed to work?

Wow! Letting him sell unregulated cigarettes, what a crime! Think back several years ago when trying to tax the sell of cigarettes was NOT a crime but was considered commerce. Since when did we become such a regulated country anyway! That is the problem, not the police but what they are now forced to police. It’s called more and more government control of our lives!

What’s next?

The horror...the horror...

People should be free to sell their own damned cigarettes without the government demanding a piece of the action.

What’s the difference between taxing cigarettes and taxing tea? The dead guy was doing the right thing.

Yes. Why is government restricting commerce?

Yes, pretty much, especially when the taxes are so ridiculous...

Wow! Selling cigarettes without a license (ie. not tax collected) - you have to be kidding me! Do any of you yahoo’s realize the unimaginable laws that are being passed in this country? We are simply lucky to have not been caught breaking any of a dozen of them. If you have not been arrested in your lifetime then you are a hermit living outside of civilization.

The absurd laws are the problem! Pass enough of them and everyone is a criminal! That seems to be the ideal for the Democrats - Control, Control...
