Ben Carson stands by comparison of U.S. to Nazi Germany
CNN ^ | 12/4 | Alexandra Jaffe

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson stood by his controversial comparison of the United States to Nazi Germany in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday.

Asked by Blitzer whether he would amend or take back his comments, Carson said "Absolutely not."

Carson made the comments during a March interview with conservative news outlet Breitbart.com. He noted that the Third Reich was "using its tools to intimidate the population," and said that "we now live in a society where people are afraid to say what they actually believe."

"The point of what I'm saying...is a major fundamental shift of power has occurred," from the people to the government, and "if we continue down that road the United States of America becomes something very different than it was intended to be."

Did you read the article? Ben is refreshingly articulate.

He's got foot in mouth syndrome. The salient aspect of Nazi Germany that sticks in the popular imagination is extermination camps. This kind of silly hyperbole might get a few grins after a few drinks at a dinner party with like-minded acquaintances. It is political poison outside of those circles.

>>But without the superciliousness<<

You thought Alan Keyes was arrogant? Hmmm.

All deep thinkers, particularly conservative I guess could come off that way. Never really thought of Alan Keyes as being “supercilious”.

Peculiar choice of words.

“The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” was written by William Shirer, who was a news correspondent stationed in Germany in the 1930’s and witnessed the evolution of things first-hand.

Judge Napalitano said the same thing on the special report panel. Juan Williams about fell out of his chair. Thus proving the Judge was spot on.

I have to look, there are so many books written on the subject. I can see the dust cover. It was not the Rise and Fall, just the Third Reich.

Not to mention the Palmer Raids, which unlawfully rounded up and deported “undesireables”.

Nazi Germany was better ran—Hitler would never permit the lawlessness of a Chigago in his state. he would not have permitted terrorists acts and call them “work place violence”. He would have really made shovel ready jobs.

I hate to say it but Godwin’s Law is no longer in effect when Bibi accuses political opponents of engaging in a “putsch.” There is no longer any shame in trivializing Hitlerism.

I did indeed find him supercilious in the same way I found William F. Buckley supercilious. It does not mean they were not right all the time, but their manner was arrogant and off-putting for some. Didn't really bother me, but I just don't think Keyes could connect with voters of today.

No, I don’t think his message resonated either. I really like Keyes though.

He kinda came off like he was lecturing, but I think he meant well.

Anyhoo....just curious of your thinking.

God bless

I read Shirers book many years ago,

It is frightening to see the scheming political machinations invented and/or expanded upon by Goebbels to become mainstream political tactics used daily in the America of 2014,

In the bible, kingdoms or governments when in opposition to God, can be referred to as “beasts” Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome (in multiple parts) are the four prophetic ones,

Nazi Germany was an evil beast, who can doubt that, and it had a man as its head, and its head ultimately had a fatal head that appeared to end its march forward,

And yet here is the same thing again, though much more subtle, nuanced, not so brash and abrasive, but smart power, not talking as a dragon, more like a lamb, that same kind of political propaganda as standard operating procedure, 1080p HD images that move and speak, scheming and directing with a compliant MSM to assume more and more control for the state, and to be clear, I’m not claiming this is the fulfillment of that prophesied requirement, only that these patterns often repeat over and over and this is what one looks like (to me at least)

I was interested some years back to discover the number of high ranking Nazi party members that were brought to America after WW2 and to learn of their influence, there are a number of articles online recounting this, I’m not sure how historically accurate they are,

Believers in this world are in a spiritual battle with the god of this world and this beast that empowered Hitler did not die with him in that bunker,

Germany during the 1940s was one of the most advanced nations in the world,

Just imagine how some would be future Hitler would flourish and what he could accomplish today, where increasingly we have computers that can monitor our whereabouts, face recognition software, NSA reading our emails and reviewing our buying and selling habits all in the interest of the state, and worse still we have drones (of course they will never be used against Americans /s) that can be circling overhead miles away and can drop ‘hellfire’ missiles on a single house/car/location. Who can fight that? I used to think the ‘calling fire down from heaven’ in Revelation was the use of Nuclear weapons. Not any more,

Its my conjecture that the ‘beast’ at the time of the end wont be a single nation, it wont be America alone, it will be the whole world in some manner bound if only economically and with technology, though we seem to be showing the world how to do it and inventing every tool and advanced technology (computers, software, satellite communications, internet and advanced weaponry) that a future Antichrist system will ever need,

I finally located the book. It is “The Third Reich, A New History”, by Michael Burleigh, 2000, published by Hill and Wang.
