How much does the head of the math department make? the science department?

let’s see some comparative figures for the same school.

How does the university make determinations for how much each position warrants??

"How much does the head of the math department make? the science department?"

I read yesterday that the Alabama football program brings in $143 million yearly (from all sources) to the university. It funds many other programs including all other sports departments and contributes millions to the university's bottom line....presumably paying salaries of science professors, etc.

I wonder if folks think about what football does for students, also. How many billions (with a “B”) have football players made following their graduation or leaving the college/university? College football enriches more than just the campus.

It’s very important that we have great college athletic programs (football, basketball, etc.) here in the USA. No matter what it costs.

Indisputable fact: Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz has been the most overpaid coach in college football history. Last 5 years his record has been 34-29 in a very weak Big 10 conference.

Also, he is 7-9 against Iowa State, arguably the worst program in the top 5 football conferences.
