From a former Republican Senate majority leader to an incoming one, Trent Lott has this advice for Mitch McConnell: Deal sternly with renegade conservatives and quickly coopt new GOP senators so they dont drift over to the obstructionist side of the party.

He speaks the truth of what happens.
Send them to Washington. They go native - either to perpetuate their power and resulting wealth...
or are co-opted by RINOs.
In either case, nothing changes.
Voting is simply a way to keep them in power. Plus it encourages them.
Trent Lott?
I thought he was in hell
Fool you once, shoot self in the head? Really? Let me get this straight. You believe that Ted Cruze will become George Bush if elected as a Republican, right? Ronald Reagan was a republican when the GOP was flailing in moderation. He fixed the party for a time.
As this forum still represents free speech, as intended by our founders, I'll respect your right to have a rediculous position on this issue.
Gee, maybe other “successes” like Bob Michel can advise Boehner.
Shorter -> How dare any GOP stand Obstruct a tyrant?
Trent Who?
I think it’s time for conservative journalists to start digging up the dirt on McConnell and Boehner. They are bigger enemies than Democrats. At least Cantor was primaried.

Bob Dole was the leader who caved in the 1995 shutdown and destroyed the Republican Revolution of 1994.
...
The GOPe cares more about preserving Big Government and graft than winning.
It ain't been just once...it's been too many times, and I'm done.
Oh so the Cheerleading Choir boy is gonna give advice on leadership?
This from the guy who thought it would be a grand Idea to “share” power with the Rats.
Yeah Mr. Vacant Lott, some of us remember. Now go do your nails.
The worst sort of machine politics.
And worse even than that, they’re trying to subvert the will of the Tea Party.
Bob Dole loved the compromise - making the deal.
They didn’t call him Clinton’s Eunuch for nothing.
Boy, he’s on a muttering tour. Trent Lott was one of the WORST GOP Majority Leaders and that says a lot given Bob Dole once was.
Bill Frist wasn’t much better and McScumbag is awful.
FU RINO’s and all the FReepers (you know who you are) who love them or else “you want Hillary to win”!
WOW, so you're the one...you haven't been bent over and screwed by the GOP because you OBVIOUSLY haven't voted for them in years.
It's your ilk that sits on the sidelines, pisses and moans about the GOP nominee, doesn't back him/her and then complains that the Democrats, who have no problem voting for their trash candidates win elections.....You'll vote for Cruz if he doesn't run as a Republican....yeah, right..and thanks to you, we'll usher in a Hillary generation.....thanks1
Bob Dole loved the compromise - making the deal.

I’m not surprised. Real leaders use persuasion, not compromise.
On the contrary, I've been voting R since I was 18, over 20 years ago. Been "supporting" R candidates since I was 8 years old, walking neighborhoods, knocking on doors in support of local candidates that my Grandfather was supporting (all R's, of course). I remember, actually, being 5 years old, staying up til 2 in the morning watching the November 1980 returns come in with my grandparents, and celebrating Reagan's win. Also ran in 2000 for State House in NM...as an R. Campaigned for Dubya...stood on corners FReepin the heck out of the recounts. I changed my voter registration in 2006, after the R's held the House, Senate AND WHITE HOUSE for SIX FREEPIN YEARS and we got the so-called "Patriot" act, Part D and the beginning of "too big to fail"/bailout policies, but continued to vote R. 2014 was the first time I voted outside a straight ticket. Funny thing is, the 2 R's I voted for this year, one lost because he was too much of a wimp to properly frame his leftist extremist opponent. The other won his US Senate seat, pushing out the D incumbent, and then promptly came out stating that impeachment and gov't shutdown were NOT options.
You shouldn't speak of that you don't know. And that "Vote R or else you're supporting the D's!" logic is a bunch of BS, and I'm thankful that people are stating to wake up to it. You go right ahead though. It's apparent you enjoy being bent over by your supposed "friends". Have at it. I ain't going to be fooled any more, and I'm going to laugh at the fools who like it.
