heck of a lot more reliable when SHTF than an AR.

I must say however that my stint in the Army turned me completely against the AR platform. I never had one that could shoot worth a D@#$ and being left-handed was a pain (literally) as well.

Smith and Wesson makes great REVOLVERS. World-class. But that’s it.

Never you mind the market leading M&P line.

I bought a S&W AR years ago. It’s a good gun. A friend of mine bought one last year. It has no forward assist and no dust cover, but it shoots OK.

I’m a south-paw as well. The whole gun world hates us for some reason. I need to get my smith to work on a left handed AK ejector/bolt/dust cover combo for me.

My brother did 3 tours in Iraq/Afghanistan. Hated the M4! I owned two of them (AR’s) and sold them off after two shooting sessions.

he bought the Sport. The Sport is a low cost AR that is built nice but lacks some features. Its for someone on a budget but wants a decent AR.

I’d love to get an AR but don’t have the money for a new platform (gun, mags, ammo, optic, etc).

I just want a quality-made LEFT-HAND bolt gun NOT CHAMBERED for some belted or the newer non-belted magnums.

I bought a Browning Left handed A-bolt/Medallion in the .300 Win Mag 20+ years ago. Nothing have ever survived being down range when the trigger was pulled, out to 475 yards using Hand Loaded Nosler Partition 180 gr. bullets.

There are better AR clones on the market for less money.

Not to rain on your favorite cartridge but I do not like nor will I shoot a belted magnum of any caliber.

Far too much recoil

Still, I suspect there is a saturation point where everyone who wants a firearm has a firearm.

Exactly. The gun safe can't fit any more so regrettably, I'm done procuring long guns. Started in 2008 because I recognized exactly who and what these sub-creatures are in the executive branch.

The gun counters at our local stores are all jammed, all of the time, and orders are way backlogged.

well if they started making AK’s or magazine fed .45-70’s maybe I’d bite.

Try an AR-15 in .458 SOCOM. It uses the same bullets as a .45-70 and uses an standard 5.56mm 30 round magazine to hold 10 rounds.

Great round if your up against bad guys with body armor or bad guys behind a cinder block wall. If they're wearing armor, it'll still knock the wind out of them and if they're behind cinder block walls, the wall will disappear after a few rounds.

Around 2000FPS for a 325 grain JHP and a bit less for a 505 grain hardcast lead bullet. Muzzle energy is in the 2000+ lb/ft range. Kind of like getting hit in the chest with a sledge hammer.

Their M&P line is very good.

I’ve long wanted a supressed SBR in .458 SOCOM loaded with 600gr/1000fps rounds.

"Still, I suspect there is a saturation point where everyone who wants a firearm has a firearm."

Once we had the weapons we wanted our budget turned to ammo.

Agreed, but this isn’t their first time losing money on long guns.

I had one of those Howa rifles. It seemed a pretty good gun.

My first firearm purchase was a S&W 4015 Colorado state patrol over production handgun. It had an emblem engraved on it. it looked great. Problem was it wouldn’t shoot. Stove pipe and misfired. Sent it back to the shop and no improvement. I emailed the then pres. (This was when it was owned by walther i think) He sent the sales rep to the shop where i bought it and offered me the gun of my choice. I got a SW99 with trijicon sights as a replacement. $400 dollar purchase and got a $600 replacement. I appreciated the service but i haven’t bought a S&W since. I do Beretta, Steyr, taurus, and browning.
