But witness accounts varied on what actually happened, sparking protests in Phoenix Thursday night as the fever pitch from the police killings of unarmed teen Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., and the chokehold death of Eric Garner on Staten Island, boiled over into the streets of the southwestern United States.

Brown was not unarmed and Garner was not choked to death.

This story is a nice liberal nudge in the direction of an innocent black man gunned down by a white cop but the story wasn’t quite that simple.

So, now every police shooting of a black man is going to be front page, nationwide news. Feed the hysteria.

Denver went through hysteria about 20 years ago. There were a couple of disturbing shootings, gang related. All of a sudden, every shooting was front page material and people were worked up and scared. It was proclaimed "the summer of violence." After it was all over it turned out the murder rate for that year was actually rather less than for other years at the time.

These police shootings happen fairly frequently, if viewed nationwide. So, now we're going to have front page treatment, hysteria and a manufactured "crisis."
