At least he was probably shot instead of having his head sawed off.

I’m guessing, but I wonder if this was a mission they dreaded having to risk but had to, because they assumed it was better than nothing since he was going to die anyway.
They had already tried a mission a few weeks ago and the bad guys might have been too prepared for there to be much of a chance of him coming out alive, I hope that the rescuers didn’t suffer casualties.

R.I.P. to yet another victim of terrorism.
For goodness sake why can't President Obama get anything right? He is an utter failure.
My bet is that he sent our Special Forces with insufficient equipment and insufficient preparation time and resources for mission.

Very sad. Hopefully some terrorists died (horribly) in the process.

White House: We Didn’t Delay Secret Somers Rescue Operation
http://abcnews.go.com/International/white-house-delay-secret-somers-rescue-operation/story?id=27399331
The White House doubled down today to bat back the idea that dithering at the highest levels delayed an ultimately unsuccessful military operation to rescue American al Qaeda hostage Luke Somers in Yemen last week.
There are still some significant limits to what I can say about what is still a classified operation, but I would reject in the strongest possible terms that there was any delay at the White House in approving his mission, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.

The odds were long, but I’m glad they tried. Hope any of the bad guys that managed to live through it all figures out that hanging with Jihadis ain’t worth the trouble.

Lucy Somers said: "We ask that all of Luke's family members be allowed to mourn in peace."Amen.
Hopefully the mode of death was more humane than that which he faced.

The news is NOT that hostages died. The news IS that TEN militants were killed. Sad that the hostages died, but were I a hostage, I would be so HAPPY that my death was worthwhile, that I died for my country and that the psycho-Islamists who held me also died. 10:2 kill ratio is not bad.

Hagel said in the statement that the rescue bid was conducted in partnership with the Yemen's government and its security forces
I suspect the mistake was telling the Yemen government.

Of course, Obama agreed to two recent “joint” operations with the enemy (though muslim brothers of his), and both failed. No surprise there. This rises above ordinary treason to direct murder.

This will give the left an excuse to negotiate with hostage takers..."See? Rescue attempts are too risky, and our military can't do the job."....thereby pouring millions of taxpayer dollars into their coffers.
Here's a tip for Americans who think they're immune to risk and are "adventurous" and "just want to help the people of the region.":
Go to Disney World instead, mmmK?
