“Rolling Stone has always been a lying leftist rag. When P J ORourke started sucking up to Rolling Stone, I knew he was a fraud.”
He starting writing for them in 1981, if you bothered to check, as the conservative voice of it. It was at Rolling Stone that he became famous, not the other way around.
If YOU had bothered to check, you would know that O’Rourke was already famous from his writing at National Lampoon. When he was at NatLamp, he and his fellow writers ridiculed Rolling Stone, but when Jann Wenner offered him a paycheck, he snatched at it like a hungry dog. Now he’s a regular on the “I’m a conservative but I hate conservatives” circuit, as in Bill Maher Show, etc.
