Jeb's too moderate the latest far-right fringe's war against the GOP
Sun Sentinel ^ | December 8, 2014 | By Douglas C. Lyons

I shouldn’t be saying this since I’m obviously not a card-carrying conservative, much less a wild-eyed tea-party type. But, I’m confounded, if not amused, by this latest line of bull about Jeb Bush from the far-right fringe. How could the Jebster ever be dubbed a “moderate?”

Isn’t this the same John Ellis Bush who as Florida’s governor often treated teachers’ unions, trial lawyers, statehouse reporters, civil servants and, at times, the courts, as pariahs?

Heck, during his second inauguration speech, he looked up at the state government buildings and said he wished he could cut more staff and programs to make them half empty. This is the guy the fringe believes is too moderate to run for president as a Republican.

Oh well. If the fringe won’t give Bush a chance, their best shot at winning the White House in 2016, then they’d better get used to singing Hail to the Chief to Madame President Clinton.

Perhaps, but I am not interested in one (or two) families controlling things.

Yes and since leaving the Governor’s Mansion Jeb Bush has looked more like Jimmy Carter in his retirement years.

Maybe some Americans are against a monarchy. No more Clintons or Bushes.

You are exactly right.
P.S.: Thank you for your correct spelling of plural surnames!

The media will tout anyone (Jeb Bush) that they think will suppress the Republican base. And they will smear as “extreme” (Ted Cruz) anyone who espouses constitutional government, fiscal responsibility, the separation of powers, and the rule of law.

Well he did use the words “wild-eyed” and “fringe”. All code words for describing conservatives as crazy and racist.

Already these bastard main stream liberal Marxist’s writers and editorialists are working overtime trying to set the narrative early...

Which is what we need to do. Pick a candidate (Ted for me) and spend the next 2 years hyping them to friends, family and whoever needs to hear it.
Let the GOPe know who we back. Over and over. No more letting the media pick our candidate.

BEFORE THE GOP NOMINATION:

"Jeb Bush is the best choice for conservatives! He can appeal to everyone! Also, he's the one guy that Hillary fears. Boy, is she shaking in her boots every time she hears his name!"

AFTER THE GOP NOMINATION:

"New York Times reports that Jeb Bush killed and ate live puppies! He's a far-right wing lunatic!"

Far right fringe? Really? What about far left radicals who right now are trying to start a race war in the US?

Hey Douglas Lyons, define “far right fringe” for us, won’t you? Anybody to the right of Che Guevara? Anyone who uses the word “constitutional”? Any individual who believes we are Taxed Enough Already?

I won’t hold my breath awaiting your response.

Spot on. The media build up a Republican as the “moderate” choice, then once he is nominated, they attack him as an “extremist”.

What happened in 2000 and 2004? I don’t think Dubya was very conservative, at least in retrospect...

I don’t know. He was a good governor of Florida and pretty firm on many things (he’s probably the best of the Bushes) but I’m afraid he has the same “gentlemanly” stripe as his father and brother, and will tie himself in knots to show how fair and non-vindictive he is.

W’s big mistake from the start was to leave a lot of his enemies in place and in fact to appoint others, just to show how fair he was. And then he never defended himself or his positions, just to show how fair he was. Unfortunately, I think Jeb would be the same.

Jeb actually did do a good job a governor down here in Florida. Unfortunately, he long ago decided that if he is to run for president, he had to embrace the chamber of commerce, crony establishment wing of the party.

I think the “Peter Principle” is a good descriptor for both Jeb and GWB.
