Sadly she is right. Our corrupt, partisan media has convinced the mass of low-info sheeple that if the government were to shut down, grocery store shelves would be empty and planes would start falling out of the sky within half an hour.

What she said of the media is about the only thing she got right in the article. Romney lost because many stayed home. She said that Romney only got 60% of the white vote, while true the statistics she was referring to weren't about white voters but about Perot voters who were white. I'm pretty sure that Romney got pretty close to 100% of the Perot voters who voted.
I'm not at all sure Romney would have been a lot better for the country in some ways. Sure we would likely not have Obama care, sure we would be much better off internationally and militarily but we would have still been on a slide down to socialism. It is socialism that is tearing this country apart and the Manchurian candidate running the country.
Obama and Jarrett would love another shutdown. And some on this board would love to give it to them.

Can anyone name one representative or senator who was NOT elected due to the earlier shutdown? I think many voters were motivated because the government was shut down and finally someone took a stand in DC. If the Republicans become “potted plants” then they will loose the support they have from their base.
Second, even if it is true that the Republicans got blamed for the shutdown, what did it cost us? Maybe . . . and this isn't proven . . . MAYBE the VA governorship. Yet a year later, the lackluster GOP VA senate candidate was so strong that he almost overthrew the incumbent. Meanwhile the GOP crushed the Dems in election after election.
No, Congress has only two tools to stop Obama: impeachment and a budget with the possibility of a shutdown.
We should USE THEM BOTH.

Sadly and begrudgingly, I agree with you and Mona. The partisan media has the low information voter thinking like an idiot. They already have the govvies here in DC whining about Republicans and they have not even taken office yet, for crying out loud. One caveat is that of timing...a shutdown in January for example is much better than a shutdown near an election day.
