“Tolkien racist”. I can see the headline now. Oh. No I can’t. I don’t watch networthless news.

well, is it racist to like someone “because” of their color? because I love that guy who does the ea sports commercial. when he looks in the camera and says “to the crack of dawn” he’s a laugh riot and no white guy could be that funny.

It is long since happening in the public education halls controlled by professional professorial propagandists.
In 2004 I took a music history class taught by a Ph.D. who had done her doctoral thesis on Rap Music.
One day in lecture, she covered, as I recall, a libretto written by W.H. Auden. After class, I went forward and innocently mentioned that Auden had been a student of J.R.R. Tolkien. I then returned to my seat to collect my books.
As she went past me, on her way out, she abruptly turned to me without breaking stride, said, “Tolkien was a racist, you know!” in a clipped, angry tone, and kept on without giving me any opportunity whatsoever to make any response.
During that semester I endured her frequent racist comments about “white” males and their destruction of the self respect of the “black” males in America (which, according to her, completely justified their siring out of wedlock, and abandoning the mothers and offspring, e.g., the man who sired 78 children out of wedlock). I also endured her frequent threats about the consequences from her catching us in our likely “plagiarism” in our papers (something I did not do). (She conveniently never mentioned the established plagiarism of her hero, M.L. King, protected for decades by both academics and journalists - what I now call ‘academedia’.)
This woman veritably reeked of hatred for white males. Her hit-and-run attack was illustrative of the leftist’s cowardly insistence upon controlling both sides of a debate, and ruthless intent upon silencing all opponents.
I know Tolkien’s history and literature extremely well, and I can easily guess the pretexts she exploits to slander him as a “racist”; however, I know for a fact that when approached by persons who held such views, he spurned them.
Her pretexts would undoubtedly have included that Tolkien was an Afrikaner, that orcs were “black”, that the Southrons and Easterlings were bad guys, and that the story has a Eurocentric aura.
Tolkien was a world-class expert on Nordic myth: He wrote what he knew. The orcs were blackened because they were in origin elves who had been magically and physically tortured and perverted through many centuries. The Southrons and Easterlings were shown to be at times fearless and noble (more so, by the bye, than the “white male” Dunlendings who had been dispossessed by the Rohirrim), and Gandalf and others pitied their plight.
In my opinion, this woman, with her Rap doctorate, was not fit to speak the name of Tolkien, a decent, devout man who translated Beowulf and, in part, The Jerusalem Bible.
