South Dakota Senator John Thune, co-chair of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, has announced that the omnibus appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2015 includes an important provision championed by Thune preventing the Obama Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating lead in ammunition and fishing tackle for one year.

I’ve always liked Thune. Seems intelligent and on top of things.

That’s nice ... A band-aid of sorts.

What’s needed is to de-fund and disband the EPA entirely.

The uranium bullets, 30 mm, are made here in east Tennessee. They are awesome. They look like Stainless steel but are amazingly heavy

They are a great weapon

Thune has justified his existence in the Senate for the first time since he took office.

preventing the Obama Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating lead in ammunition and fishing tackle for one year

The "Obama EPA" is simply enforcing the Water Quality Act PL 89-234, the Safe Drinking Water Act PL 93-523 and the Toxic Substances Control Act PL 94-469.

All of these laws were passed by both Houses of Congress and signed by Presidents Johnson, Nixon, and Ford.

Obviously, these laws were foolish grants of power to an Executive Branch that wiser men would have known would some day come under the control of an "Obama".

But your quarrel is with the laws. If you aren't fighting for their repeal, you're pissing up a rope.

“What’s needed is to de-fund and disband the EPA entirely.”

I go way beyond defunding these EPA fascists and am in favor of bringing sedition charges against these traitors. The EPA fascists have ignored both the USSC, which ruled against these Nazis in the SWANCC and Rapanos decisions, and the Congress which has written legislation forbidding the EPA nazis from arbitrarily rewriting the navigable water act, which the EPA is illegally doing.

The EPA has given the finger to the courts, the Congress and the people. I want to see the EPA pukes hanged for treason.

THIS IS HOW THEY GET LAWS PASSED THAT NEVER WOULD GET PASSED OTHERWISE!

1) the “expiration date” hustle:
They pass a law saying no tax on ‘widgetA’ - that expires in one year. At the end of the year the ‘expiration’ means they suddenly CAN tax it.

2) the ‘repeal to a new position’ fake:
They know people hate something, and would never vote for it. So they pass a poorly worded law banning it, which gets huge support. Then the supreme court strikes down the bad language banning it, so it must then NOT be banned.

This is how they got “open Gays in the Military”
NO ONE would have voted FOR Openly gays in the military.

And the de-facto rule before “don't ask don't tell” was ... Don't ask, don't tell. If you served honorably no one really cared as long as you kept it to yourself.

Then the supremes said “DADT” was unconstitutional, so they ‘overturned’ it to a whole new position (NOT back to the original) so that you CAN ASK and TELL.

3) Then there is the ‘technical foul’ new law:
Harry Reid got the nuclear option this way. They had a procedural vote on the rule change. The procedure required 60 votes to pass, but it was done incorrectly, so they had a technical vote to overrule it, which only required 50 votes- and ‘overturn’ apparently now means “go to the new rule”

Lead tire weights are banned in 5 or 6 states. We’re in between CA & WA where they are banned so we have a defacto ban. All the major tire outfits in Oregon use zinc.

“What’s needed is to de-fund and disband the EPA entirely.”

I was once very interested in dissolving the EPA, and I was surprised at what was involved once I got into it.

The EPA was not created by an Act of Congress. It was created by Richard Nixon's Executive Order. There is no law to repeal, no authorizing legislation to amend.

In fact, the EPA was created because the task of enforcing the TWENTY-FIVE environmental laws passed by Congress from 1955-1972 was creating administrative chaos among the Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, and Health, Education, and Welfare Departments in the Nixon Administration.

If the EPA were ended tomorrow, EVERY SINGLE LAW that authorizes these regulations would still be on the books, and the army of Grubers that writes the regulations and sues the government (paid by your tax dollars) to compel more enforcement would still be in business.

The EPA is a symptom. The unconstitutional environmental laws are the disease.
