Been There, Done That!! Grew up and went to school in mid 70’s Hawaii, Island of Oahu. Whites were treated very poorly there. Funny though, blacks were treated the same!! Anyone from the “mainland” were called Haole (White Pig). A name that is still in general use today in Hawaii. Guess what? I got over it.

I have 2 Hapa Haole grandchildren.

Haole is just a descriptive,not an insult.

Agree. Been there and it was not a fun time. Japan was the same. As I recall the term was “chimpo” for white people.
