Bougie ( from someone who’s worked with some)
I know implicitly what Bougie is. Over the years I’ve worked with two bougie black coworkers. Both were basically nice, competent, caring people. That being said, I tended to avoid then when they’d start talking about their goodies.
The first one was male. Everything out of his mouth was what he had just bought. This is an actual conversation.
“ I bought a new Jeep. I was going to get a convertible, but I got the hardtop. It’s black, so it matches my BMW. I picked it up and stopped by the store to buy a new flat screen. I decided to put it in the back room. I now have 5 TVs in the house.”
This duded lived by HIMSELF. He had two kids. They lived in the projects with their ghetto mom that he’d divorced.
The female had a coworker stop by who deals in high end purses. She was showing one of my coworkers her new
designer purse.
“ I already had one in mocha. I had to get this one in cranberry.”
“How much you pay?”
“ The same for each one. Nine hundred dollars.”
It might sound dumb, as their family incomes are
much higher then mine, but I feel sorry for them. It must be torture to think that your worth is judged by what you’ve bought.
