I believe the women. That's mainly because some of them are prestigious enough to have nothing to gain from coming forward.

That being said, those were different times. A woman was expected to take responsibility for the situations she put herself in. The minors?....I think they were supposed to have chaperones back then. The grapevine? I'd be surprised if women didn't tell each other to avoid him.

I'd take a look at the wife, too. Was she an enabler? I also wish Cosby would "stay classy" and not blame the women or the media.

expected to take responsibility for the situations she put herself in

—the other side of the coin may be consideration of the sexism and job discrimination that was rampant in those times. women had little or no choice about what opportunities they would get in society— dating, career, whatever. given that so called “decent” opportunities may have been few and far between, women might have felt compelled to take occasional risks for necessity’s sake.

chaperones for minors

—i’m not sure how long you go back, but i go back a ways and i never saw any chaperones in the time frame of most of the allegations. women need chaperones to date? if i were a woman, i would object to such a prejudice and doctrinaire imposition on my freedom. at least, in the lower and middle classes.
