American in North Korea denounces U.S., seeks Venezuela asylum: media

Reuters

2:54 a.m. EST, December 14, 2014

A U.S. citizen who illegally entered North Korea delivered a lengthy denunciation of U.S. domestic and foreign policy on Sunday and said he was seeking political asylum in Venezuela, the North's official media said.

The man identified himself as Arturo Pierre Martinez, 29, from El Paso, Texas, in video footage of a press conference released by the North's KCNA news agency and said he had taken "a risky journey to reach the (North) so that I could pass along some very valuable and disturbing information".

Martinez spoke of human rights violations committed by the U.S. government and its attempt at forcing imperialist influence and domination on other countries, KCNA said in an article released with the footage.

The CIA should DEMAND that North Korea immediately return this spy they have caught.

And tell the NorKs that we will send a “strong note” if they torture him.

NK is apparently getting unending stream of nuts from U.S.

They can have 'em all as far as I'm concerned.

Ft. Bliss is located in El Paso. Ft. Hood is in east central Texas about 30 miles southwest of Waco and roughly 60 miles north of Austin and just west of I-35.

There’s no toilet paper in Venezuela. Who would want to “go” there?

Maybe he actually thought North Korean was a decent place before seeking in there only to be rudely awaken, so now he wanted to try Venezuela to see if thats any better.

In any event why do we care? If he wants to live in either of those countries why would we lift a finger to stop him.

My only concern is that he may have been kidnapped by the North Korean regime and forced to say this. Once its been established that he really is a loon acting in good faith thats when we stop caring.

Seriously why is this even an article? If he wants to live in either country we aint got nothing to say about it either way.

The only real question is wether or not he is saying theses things of his own free will or was kidnapped by the North Korean state and forced to say theses things as so often happens in that country.

"The only real question is wether or not he is saying theses things of his own free will"

That actually occurred to me as well, not that the current administration is likely to do anything even in that case.
