I think Patton was largely right. Attention to detail, including cleanliness, is often the difference between life and death in a war zone. Shaving and necktie-wearing is a symbolic reminder of the importance of clean weapons, other sanitary practices, and following the routines that keep you alive.You're absolutely correct, of course.
